    Thank you Fred

In fact, these are my pictures:

Soennecken 222 Extra by C.M.Z, auf Flickr

Soennecken 222 Extra by C.M.Z, auf Flickr

No doubt, this pen belongs to tthe Soennecken 111 and 222 Family, but still there are some differences:

Soennecken XXX by C.M.Z, auf Flickr

The barrel ist not the same material and the imprint is different too. Even the size (and yes, I know of the three regular sizes: Lady, Superior and Extra) ist different. It's between Superior and Extra.

Maybe, the pen is a combination of of parts of different pens.

    But the pens are different

Interesting find indeed - It could be an export market variant.

I think I'm going to be winding down my hunt/obsession for middle period Moore pens. I have a solid mini-collection now and models are getting scarce and silly expensive (for these pens). However, I did manage to win an auction for this set, which pairs with a similar pen in different colorway, and I have always like these - the height of Moore's art deco looks. I took a quick desktop photo, pre-restoration, pairing the set with a FLW blueprint.

So you have an entry level Moore mini-collection?

    Christof,

Your Soennecken has one of my favorite celluloid patterns. I love the three-dimensional effect when the pen is rolled in hand under a light.
Yes, I know what you mean Fred. It's simply amazing!

Damn..... Now I see it,very neat.

    Latest project pen…

$3.03 at the local thrift store. Appears to be a Sheaffer 1000 with a vacuum filling mechanism. The only problem is that the knob isn’t attached to the rod. Any ideas on how to proceed?

The nib is a Lifetime, which is pretty cool, but I don’t know whether it is 14k or just plated.

The barrel is too nice to just pull the nib and put on a #5 feed.

    Thanks!

By the way, the rod won’t pull up using gentle pressure, but I can see it in there.

It looks like a frankenpen--222 cap and knob with 111 body. That would explain the size, I think, as the sizes of 222 and 111 were different from eachother.

This will be latest one... if and when it arrives. (and apparently it's been almost 2 years since the last time I purchased a 'new' 'modern' pen, or even used modern).

Is this a Pilot vanishing point type pen? I think Majohn took over Moonman, is that correct?

This Jinhao sent with 'Jink' (Jinhao blue ink in a bottle reminiscent of the teeny Iroshizuku bottles).

The pen colors closely emulate some of the Lamy Safari 'Easter Egg' LE pens. The EF nibs have a little feedback but they're BETTER overall than the last 3 Scratch-afaris I bought.
My other pen is a Montblanc.

And my other blog is a tumblr!

Yes they make one that is a near exact clone of the VP with the clip. That is the clip less version.

No take over just name change due to Kaweco.

Edit: clipless version, aside from the lack of clip, has a recessed middle of the barrel and a roll stopper on the back. The clip version of the A1 pretty much looks just like a VP, internals too.

    OOOH! eBay?

I like "Scratch-afaris" I have never owned an actual Lamy Safari, so it's not like I've had the same experience, I just like it...

    😄

(Yes, 'bay. I guess it is an early Christmas present.)

I have any number of Lamy Safaris/Nexxes....only the last 3 or 4 have had awful nibs. But it sort of turned me away from them, especially when the Jinhao are a fifth the price.

Well, it does not seem like an auspicious trend.

I got 12 of the Jinhaos in eye-searingly bright colors for 18 or 19 dollars, and much to my surprise bits of plastic are falling off some of them. I've got a few cracks I want to get to, also. Considering the price, I can't complain - there were the 12 of them, and each had a converter.

I've been playing around with the nibs. I got some Italic nibs off eBay which were touted to fit and indeed they do - I also ground one of the tips that was there - extremely inexpertly - I filled each pen with a sort of matching ink - I've been having an awful lot of fun for the money. I needed to replace one I had lost and had been using for sketching, so the other 11 were sort of a bonus...

My newest wild fling into pen territory has been a Speedball 1.1 Italic pen that uses international carts, from Hobby Lobby. Sort of an act of aggression against everything bugging me - I wanted a pen, so I got one, so THERE, big sucky Universe, take it on the chin! Or, you know, whatever...

Having discovered that I have almost no one to buy gifts for, and that most of those probably would rather have a gift card anyway, I have been buying things for myself. I find this makes Christmas morning and the opening of presents other people either thought I wanted or else found convenient to give whether I wanted them or not a little less depressing...
