That is a very neat box...is it made out of some sort of acrylic or real wood?

At a rough guess, I would say it's the same type of material as they used on the pen body.

I can't find if I posted about these or not but just received them a couple days ago and finally inked them up. Had to do a little work on the 51.
45(deep red) is extremely smooth and wet. 51(blue gray) is pretty smooth for an F nib. Seems a tad dry but that makes it a good candidate for EDC

I received a Pilot Falcon Rhodium trim with a SM nib on Saturday and a Pilot Custom 91 fine nib today. I am doing a bit of Japan nib testing. All I need is a comparable Sailor as I already have a Platinum 3776 Balance (similar price range and size as the Custom 91). That way I can see which suits me more. Already the Pilot outperforms the Platinum out of the box. But they are both fun to write with.

This guy finally arrived. I don't think I've been this anxious for a pen to arrive since my 138.

    Please excuse my less-than-stellar photos.

Silly price pen I could not refuse, Ebay at 99p and 49p carriage from China, took a fortnight to get to me, it needed the cap's hard edges filing, but it wrote perfectly from the first moment, filled it with J Herbin's Rose Cyclamen, sucked from a cartridge, I use the ink once a year for my Valentine card to my wife! Otherwise I'm not at all a fan of the ink, but the pen? For Ģ1.48 you'd be a very churlish person to ignore any minor fault with it, I think it's great...

I'd love to hear from you Cob about how you organise your bits and pieces and where everything comes from - you come up with such amazing Frankenpens!

Ha ha ha! thanks for that.

The secret is easily revealed: I am thoroughly disorganised; I spend far too much time browsing (eBay) and too much money buying junk pens in search of exciting nibs or even a decent clip etc. Thus I have a couple of boxes of dead pens - barrels and caps mostly and a pile of sections and feeds, levers, J-bars, some nibs and so on.

At present I am frantically rebuilding Onotos - not Frankenpens these! - as money has to come in as well as go out as I am sure you have noticed.

    Best wishes

    Cob

Pilot Varsity Mass Drop arrived. Just fooling around... But I really got them to giveaway. Always good to have pen you can let someone try and then tell them to keep it.

Just received this beautiful striated third tier Gold Medal pen with ink view window. Seems to have a Skyline like military clip. I love it and I haven't even inked it up yet.

Just got back from the LA Pen Show. I went with "ones": I bought one ink, one book, and one pen. Here's the pen*, #25 of 88 total...

It comes with one of these beautiful things in the business end...

    * ... and the asterisk is because I left it with them for a nib that wasn't on-site, and I had to leave a day early, meaning that these are pics I found, not pics of my actual pen. I should have it by mid-week. This will be a sweet pen.
