Looks very nice! Regarding the discolouration, I am not so sure about this. On mine the various colours and shades are evenly distributed on cap and barrel. On yours it looks as though you have some extra green - and a very nice almost nacreous shade - in the cap. Perhaps this is nothing more than a variation in the vagaries of this type of material. Whatever the reason, the pen is a stunner!

You may have a point Cryptos; the only patterned Mabie Todds that I know are prone to discolouration are the 45 grey marbled ones - Swans and Blackbirds which turn greenish - I have seen Blackbird 5245s advertised as "green marbled"! and of course the 1920s 50 colour - the "swirly green" as in my example above. The blue, green and rose marbled pens seem to be immune and I have had several 57s - blue-bronze which do not appear to have been affected. One other that is affected is the 1930s 52 colour - not to be confused with the 1920s 52 which is Lapis. The later one is a sort of dark blue and black marble, found in Leverless pens. The barrels on these certainly darken - I had one once and I had a scrap barrel that superficially appeared to be black!

Bexley Imperial Fountain Pen Massdrop Exclusive

Just Committed to A Green-On-Green Version of this pen, I have one other Bexley and they do make lovely pens. Unfortunatelly this drop does not offer the pen in clasic black only just on the colors on the drop (Link at the bottom Next to my pure selfish reason massdrop invite code as well if interested in the drop.)

I can't believe I didn't post this earlier--my first Montblanc! It will not be my last: the detail work and craftsmanship on this 142 trumps any other vintage pen I've handled, and to make it better mine has a wonderfully smooth medium nib with moderate flex.

Congratulations, they are very well built and they have that wonderful two-stage metal piston system.

    This 'thing'

WahlOxford on clip, black/white stripes, with the white looking almost like mother of pearl pattern on the stripes (figuring it to be all celluloid), soaked it, disassembled it, original sac inside, hardened and said RELLIM MILLER R RUBBER CO.IN. , #3 Warranted nib.

    Disassembled

Polished while the section/feed/nib was soaking

    Disassembled section

    Then cleaned up the nib

And closed the tipping a little

... now to wait for a #20 silicone sac.

    So ya, latest acquisition.

I can't find out if I already posted about this one or not but shortly after receiving my Stipula Speed in Ivory replacement I received the orange version with a broad nib.

What a beauty that is - the sort of pattern one might find on a late '30s Chilton perhaps.

Sailor 1911 Promenade New Innovative Profit. Check out the new clip with the anchor logo on top and textured surface.

It has a HF nib that is just super smooth. Wet and fine but not too wet as I wrote on some crappy copy paper today and it did not feather.

Still not sure about the thinner section this model has BUT the writing experience is outstanding.

This has just arrived after being lost for ages in the depths of Sydney customs. I'm very impressed with how it writes.

    Franklin-Christoph "pocket 66" w\ "Christoph" 1.9mm music nib.
The pen has been a dream come true since its inception; the "Christoph" music nib is essentially a double-slit 1.9mm stainless steel cursive italic sans tipping; smooth, very wet, very consistent. My best "ultrabroad" calligraphy nib to date. Oh, and it's in black, to match the pen - what F-C call their "Shadow" nib

Wow. That Wahl Oxford is one heck of a celluloid. Just crazy! I thought I had seen all the really weird celluloids, but this is a new one to me.
Looks like one of those spiral Viscontis....

After learning that the Noodler's Ahab and Creaper models would be increasing in price soon, I decided to pick these up at the current lower price. I just placed my order, so two more pens will be on the way soon. These will be my first non-cartridge/converters as well as my first pens with flexible nibs, and I'll have Noodler's pens for my Noodler's ink samples now. Something to look forward to!

From different sources, but arrived on the same day.

Mabie, Todd & Co. New York "Swan Self-Filling Pen" (Pat. Apr 19.10.Sep 3.12.Jan 14.13.)
Guessing it's at least 100 years old since it's the "New York" Company before separation in 1915.

Well Mabie Todd & Co New York carried on until 1938 and then moved to New Jersey where the company finally closed down in 1941. I think your pen most likely dates from the late 1920s.

    Lovely thing!
