I like the black one (on the bottom).
Carl is that another Silvexa? When are they from?
Bought this pen from FPN member Christof: a very nice 1950's MB342 with a medium-broad steel nib that is absolutely fabulous.

Yes another Silvexa, but I haven't tested it yet, and cap doesn't have the model number like the previous one, but is identical (and swappable nib wise). Nib seemed like it was previously bent or crimped as it has a sort of crease where it's thinner, marked a "B" when you slide the nib out, but I need to ink it up now that I let it dry after being flushed to see how it writes with my adjustments. Shame I can't move the barrel over to the other section have, the threadings don't match.
Far as 'when', I'd say 1970s for both of the ones I have.
Did it ever come as a piston filler? I do like this Bauhaus German pens that MB, Pelikan, Lamy and Diplomat released around this period. It will be a hard choice which one I will go for when the time comes probably a Pelikan or Diplomat however it will be a tough choice between the two being my favourite german brands.
I just acquired this lovely 1955 Montblanc Green Striped / Striated FP and Pencil set with its original green leather zippered case. I will rate it a 98% set without hesitation and it took me about 7 years to find the set in as close to an original as possible (full meal deal).
Sheesh! Why are there some pens that are just so flammin' hard to find the way you want them?
I will present more photos later, but for now I will share these.
Although I am steering my collection away from cheap pens such as Jinhao, etc. I do have a black Hero 9018 with fude nib on the way as I have been wanting to experiment with fude nibs for quite some time now.

You're right SM on the bottom of the barrel, mis-typed.
They do seem to make the Pelikan 20 (ie: M20 as opposed to P20 , M = piston, P = cartridge) as a Piston filler, I just haven't seen them around much.
The downside to both the Silvexas I have (one all brushed, the other just brushed cap, and black body) is that in regards to carts the nipple on both is too loose to just hold a cartridge by itself, and won't work with most converters I've tried. Seems you have to double-tap the cartridges to ensure a secure fit (ie: two short cartridges, bottom one facing down provides a little pressure that last couple turns of the barrel to keep the top cartridge snug up against the nipple). Seems like some around the 80s onward added a spring to the bottom of the barrel to accommodate for converters.
Right now I got the OB from my other one in the all metal one, will probably send off the B nib (installed) once Dan Smith gets situated at his new place to get it in writing shape. I'm not really big on obliques. The nibs on them just slides right out the front.

top pen (June 17th, 2015)
One reads from time to time about "grail" pens. I have finally found one of mine, a Swan L205/47 from about 1932. It required some work but I think that it is quite presentable now.

It certainly is a beauty. The downside for me is that I have little chance of ever seeing these things in the flesh, so to speak. I have to content myself with this old clunker:
Swan minor SM2/58
That wasn't my latest proper pen though, this ratty old thing was:
W94
Although truth be told, my current weapons of mass description are these:

"Old clunker" Cryptos? OLD CLUNKER???
You're joking I hope. I have wanted a "58" for ages - how beautiful that material is - typical Mabie Todd. And the Waterman's is nice too; how does it write? I have a soft spot for those keyhole nibs; which model is it?
As for the dip pens, well they look interesting but I am entirely unable to use a dip pen, so the nibs I have stay in the drawer I'm afraid.

The Swan is of course not an old clunker. Typical English understatement. The Waterman is a 94 in steel quartz, red keyhole nib that - after some practice and finding the right ink - writes amazingly smoothly. The top dip pen is by Steve Engen of dippens.net. If anyone is looking for a straight holder I can fully recommend him (satisfied customer, no affiliations, blah blah blah). The bottom dip pen is the somewhat famous Hourglass adjustable.
Fabe and Wahl resized.jpgA Faber Castell E motion. Brown croc. Beautful smooth writer and great thick pen. Other is a vintage Wahl Eversharp Skyline which also writes with plenty of line variation.
