So I Made A Fountain Pen

“We should make a fountain pen together sometime.”

That’s how it all started. I first met Dave Dollar in 2023 during a Space City Pen Club meeting at the Roast & Brew Cafe in Houston, Texas. Dave was sharing some of his work with another pen club member and I was intrigued. We struck up a conversation and the offer to turn a fountain pen together was made.

Fast forward a few months to another Space City Pen Club meeting being held at Dromgoole’s in Houston, Texas. Dave was in attendance and reminded me of his offer to make a fountain pen together. A day was determined and I got to choose my own material. Dave was able to procure an Ansel Adams blank from Turnt Pen Co. We were all set.

I was like a kid at Christmas on the morning Dave and I were set to turn a fountain pen together. We spent about six hours taking a single rod of alumalite material and turning it into a custom fountain pen based on Dave’s Ike model. He supervised me as I performed a majority of the hands-on work. We utilized a table saw along with both wood and metal lathes to make the cuts, drill, shape, sand, and polish my pen from start to finish. It was a labor intensive process that gave me a real appreciation for the bespoke pen maker community.

Dave was a gracious host and I am very grateful for the opportunity to make my own fountain pen. It was an experience that I will never forget and I will forever cherish my new fountain pen. Thank you Dave!

Dave will be a vendor at the upcoming Baltimore / Washington International Pen Show on March 1-2-3, 2024. Make sure to stop by and tell him Paul sent you!

One consideration when using forex trading robots is the importance of monitoring their performance and adjusting parameters as needed. While automated systems can operate independently, https://www.pipsalerts.com/ it's essential for traders to regularly review their performance and make adjustments to optimize results.

What a nice photo story - and a sweet pen. It isn't till you've made something that you understand everything that goes into it. You can be proud of your work - what are you going to ink it up with?

And that looks like a very nice and well maintained lathe, too.
