And a couple of funny old glass bottles (pill bottles maybe), that'll do great as containers for the various loose pen nibs that I've got here and there.

Remember that brass/glass rocker blotter and brass letter opener that I posted yesterday?
I gave both a thorough washing and polishing, I had to take the rocker blotter completely apart, but it was definitely worth the extra effort:

That crystal rocker blotter is sweet - do you think you could move the flea markets you attend to the states?

    Congrats on the "Haul"

Plistumi - I'm not a fan of pink but that pen looks awesome.

Bikerbabe - we're all going to put "flea markets" on our list of places to hit in Copenhagen along with the tourist traps. You find some amazing hauls there. I used to go to a lot of flea markets but never recall seeing pens there (although I do have several shurikens and throwing arrows that I picked up from flea markets).

Heck, I wonder if some of us have been checking the airfare price already.

I have a Parker 51 in Gray with a F nib from an eBay auction, and a Kaweco Al-Sport in gray with an EF nib due today. A Twsbi Mini in clear with an EF nib, and an Edison Beaumont Pneumatic in Briar Swirl Ebonite with an EF nib due next week, (really psyched for this one) and a Vacumatic that's a bit overdue. Then I think I'll rest for a week or so. I am afraid that dipping my toe in the vintage market with the 51 and Vacumatic may be my undoing

I was thinking the same thing - both the Duofold looking pencil and the treasure trove of a flea market. Very nice!

But I won't feel too sorry for myself -- I did receive today a Namiki faceted Vanishing Point in deep blue, with a 14K medium nib custom ground to a cursive italic. I've been wanting a classic VP for a while.
I had to google that Namiki pen model, it sure is a sweet looking pen! Congrats on the purchase.

I took a long hard look at the pencil that you guys asked about, and it is a Duofold.
I had to photograph the thing and turn up the contrast to be able to view the text on the barrel, it is pretty worn.

And about the Copenhagen flea markets:
Let me know if and when you guys plan to drop by, I'll be happy to show you guys Copenhagen, the flea markets and all.

    A funny story...
    ebay-pens.jpg

I was browsing Ebay last week shortly after getting out of bed and, as I usually do when browsing Ebay, opened a few interesting auctions in different browser tabs. Somebody was selling a small lot of pens, most of which seemed only mildly interesting at best... So I decided to think about it for a couple minutes and started browsing through the other tabs. After a short while I decided, gosh darn, if I'm going to buy vintage pens, may as well start somewhere, clicked the "Buy it Now!" button, confirmed the purchase, and then... realized that I had agreed to buy a totally different thing. Well, the totally different thing didn't seem to be a dead loss, and I want to be an honest person, so I completed the purchase, went back to that first tab and bought the small lot of pens too.

From the first lot, the striped pen is a Majestic. All the threads are stripped and it looks like somebody had decided to use it as a dip pen, stretching a piece of rubber sheet over the filler end of the section and gluing it down, then filling the barrel with balled up pieces of rubber sheet for some uncertain reason. Weird. The third pen is a Supreme. I will refer to it as The Green Banana from now on. It needs work and there's not more to say about it. The second pen is a Waterman 32 with a moderately springy Ideal nib. It seems to be in the best shape of the three, which I'm grateful for since that was the one pen I was really hoping to be able to use. Aside from the inevitable ink and grime, the nibs of all the pens seem to be in surprisingly decent shape -- especially when considering the Majestic and The Green Banana's physical conditions otherwise.

From the second lot, a lone Waterman 53 with an Ideal Manifold nib (Unlike The Green Banana, this is perfectly straight; the distortion is from the camera lens). When I tested the nib on my thumbnail it left ink stains, so the seller was correct: The pen does still write! It would have been kind for the seller to have cleaned the pen first, but since it is in better shape than I had hoped I will let that slide.

Neither pen has the nib I was hoping to find (I want one of those wet noodles I keep hearing about), so my search isn't over, but in the worst case maybe I can trade up to it.

    Combo Button Filler.jpg

I have a small collection of combo pens. The first was my grandfather's and this is number thirteen. I bid on it on ebay purely because it was attractive, cheap, and I appeared to be the only bidder. When it arrived I opened it and started to take inventory; attractive, pencil works, nice little nib, lever....lever.....?

It's a button filler! I've never seen a button filler combo.

Testing the section to judge how hard it would be to remove and check the sac I found that the section is threaded on to the barrel. That was easy.

Unknown fp. Unfortunately I don't read arabic, I wish I knew what the text on the nib says.

I showed this picture to a fellow teacher from the Arabic department today. He said this word is Kareem. He said it is both a name and a verb. The verb means someone who is generouse, even to themselves. And the name describes a person who has this quallity himself. Also one of the names attributed to god, eg, god the merciful, god the generous, god the destroyer.

Oh dear! Another one who "accidentally" buys pens.
The material looks great, Jon! Congrats.

The one I just bought yesterday is a Lamy Vista But I have 3 (soon to be 4) on order. They'll take a while to get to me and I'll happily post pics when I get them.
