I bought one in Japan and loved it so much, bought the other from a disillusioned forum member. Happiness is now maximized. I love these pens!

No, the black is an F-M and the Vermillion, M.
They do look quite fine in the picture, though, you're right!

Very pleased to have won this vintage Pilot Vanishing Point in an Ebay auction. Dates from May 1973 if I am reading the date code correctly <H573>. I like the design of these older VP's much better than the newer ones.s-l1600.jpgs-l1600 (1).jpgs-l1600 (3).jpg

Nicely done! I haven't seen that many from that far back.
In an odd coincidence, I also just got an older VP that popped up as a BIN this past Wednesday. It got to me yesterday, which was pretty amazing. This is somewhat later, a Namiki faceted model in dark blue from the mid-90s. 14k M nib is very sweet, and the pen had been a gift to a spouse that was rarely used. These faceted models with the smooth clip design are the only ones that feel comfortable to me.

The spouse was rarely used but they got the gift anyway? That's nice.

I considered the nature of the use that the spouse might be put to and decided it was not suitable here.

Hi. One of the easiest , and the improvement I usually make , is to simply run an exacto knife tip down the super thin ink channels running down to the tip of the feed.
If you read the tech on how feeds work, it kinda flies in the face of the theory of capillary action , but if you do it carefully on these plastic feeds it usually increases flow to the tip .
Normal non flexible nibs can get by with the tiny channels as they don’t have the need for sudden increase in ink demand.
It’s a bit ' suck it and see' approach , but mostly helps. With ebonite feeds the channel is different, and these require a more delicate approach, but generally speaking simply widening the ink channel will allow more ink to get to the tip.
One needs to be prepared for it to flow a bit too much, so it helps to have spare feeds to play with …….but that doesn’t happen often.
I’m sure purist nib and feed 'meisters' will ….wince a bit at the thought of messing with the physics of these systems, but it’s worth giving the hack a shot, cos mostly it improves flow adequately.

@FredRydr will recognize this one. He’s found his flock. Rick Propas put a Degussa nib on it that is so nice. I put him down to write this post but will probably pick George up again shortly.

I think I was more surprised at his offer to sell than he was about my enquiry, but you would have to ask him. I was just looking for information so I could try to find one by setting up alerts and asking pen friends to keep an eye out for one when he offered to sell him to me. George is never leaving my desk, his friends are all here! As it happens, I have a show and tell to do at my next pen club meeting- another member asked to see my penguin FP collection. This is the jewel in that crown for sure.
My franken pen. The body is a 1930's Parker Parkette and the section/nib is a Sheaffer No Nonsense Fine point. I picked up the Parker for next to nothing as I wanted the barrel/cap which are made of celluloid--at least that is what I read in a couple of referenes as well as me doing a heat test. The sac was a total loss and the lever was close to a loss. I discovered that a Sheaffer No Nonsence section fits in the barrel so I put one in--fine point with a cartridge. The lever has been glued down and covered with epoxy tinted red/black color. I now have a functioning Franken pen at a cost of about $20. The pen writes well and feels good in the hand.

A Pelikan M605 Black Tortoise with a F nib. Very striking pen. They should do this in M805 and M1005, too.
