I hadn't bought any pens this year, and only a couple of bottles of ink. In the "how many is enough" thread, I said that I currently didn't have urge to buy more pens.
But I idly cruised Ebay, and made bids (actually set up snipes) on these two pens, which I thought would only have a moderate chance of being enough. I won both. Actually, there was another Moore pen also, but my bid on it really was too low.
I have a couple of other Parker 45s, but this is the first with a gold nib. I could tell from the seller's photos that the nib would need a little tweaking, tines very noticeably separated at the tip. But I took the nib out (which also let me verify that it is gold and not just plated), and got it to where I want it. It's writing very smoothly.
The tiny Moore L-72 is the only ringtop pen I have. The old sac looked like it had melted before it hardened, but I got it all cleaned out and resacced this morning. The celluloid is rather discolored, although I haven't tried to polish it yet, but the fine tipped nib writes beautifully. It says "Maniflex" on it, and does seem to have some flex, but I prefer not to push it, and just experience this as springiness.

Got this ROXY pen from Morrison's pen company.
I had to replace the section but now it writes with the original nib, which is a nice Medium Morrison nib.
What caught my attention is the exquisite cap design that is matched by the lever shape. Very art-deco.
Not much of an acquisition... Was out searching for a totally different pen and came across the Visconti Rembrandt Special Ops which could not be resisted and on sale. Olive green color looks different in live vs phots online. Open to ink suggestions...

This arrived two days ago:
(seller's images)
It's a Peerless, from the 1930s? Chased Nickel? Can anyone tell me anything about it or Peerless? It's has a medium nib and it's a very wet & smooth writer.

From top: Bexley Giant, Goldfink Safety, Scriptorium Aeterna, vintage Stylochap Safety, Waterman 12 1/2.
Had two new arrivals this week: a vintage Stylochap Safety in red mottled ebonite and a teeny tiny BHR Waterman 12 1/2 with an awesome flex nib -- writing sample with BungBox Emerald included. My handwriting isn't good enough to really show the nib off but man, it's so much fun to play around with it 😀
Other pens included for scale: Bexley Giant, Goldfink Safety, and Scriptorium Aeterna.

The Bexley Giant has a massive nib that was made by a jeweler. It's a really great writing stiff nib, super smooth broad or double broad point. The Goldfink is a Bock #8 nib but Tom Westerich ordered it with a vintage-style "Warranted 14 Carats" imprint. The Scriptorium is a JoWo #6, which should give you a sense of size for the rest of the nibs.
The nib on the Waterman 12 1/2 is really something -- very responsive. Writing with it is just pure joy. I wish this nib was on Waterman 16 or something in that size range because it's just easier for me to use a pen with a thicker grip section but I really love this nib.
Look at that responsiveness!
The Golfink, which is a modern safety pen made to function the same way as the vintage ones, is clearly the much bigger pen. The Stylochap is still big enough at the section to be comfortable to hold, however.
Safety pens are a lot of fun. They aren't the most practical for quick notes but they are wet writers since the nib/feed are immersed in the ink, they have no threads in the way of the gripping section, no step to negotiate, and they're just plain cool with their retractable nibs. If I were to ever develop a particular focus to my collection, rather than just accumulating pens I like, I think I'd collect safety pens.

What a nice selection. I'm very partial to Stylochap pens but I'm now casting envious eyes at that Goldfink.

Yesterday I got in the mail a Pelikan M805 with M nib. Only took a week to get from Germany to Washington State! Really liking it so far but it's only been a few hours of use

Thank you! I actually have another Stylochap on the way. But this time a modern production safety pen -- circa '97. The other Stylochap safety I have is of pre-war production, from what I understand. I've seen some gorgeous celluloid Stylochap pens as well -- they seem like great pens.
