I assume this doesn't mean that you watched 1949's "Whisky Galore!" with a friend called Eddie Izzard. I saw that one, and it was really good.

Lloyd, I can think of far worse people to sit and watch a movie with…..in fact I rather think I’d be honoured !!

Another French movie, but, this time, a bizarre one to me. "Weekend" from 1967.

Watched the French film Le Prenom (recommended by Yazeh). Very intense and beautifully acted.

I'm guessing it started out as a stage play

“The Vast of Night”. An eerie SciFi set in 1950’s New Mexico; amazing acting and directing and I almost passed over it while looking for a movie to watch that night.

Yep. It was. In my DVD version there was a filmed version of the play, with almost the same actors. It was as intense as the movie....
    Hope you enjoyed it.

I watched it. Wow. Well done.

I did find it odd that the call letters of a radio station in New Mexico began with "W". Who but a geek would notice the incongruity? If there was a veiled significance, I missed it.

A 1930's Perry Mason called "The Case of the Howling Dog". Pretty good! Also, when was the last time you heard of a title like that?

So Same Old Song 1997, by Alain Resnais for nth time. Unusual musical. Amazing comedy, witty, unusual, but not for everyone.

and the magnificent Diplomacy (2014) by Volker Schlöndorff.... much better than Is Paris burning.

I watched movies for all of my lives. Then I used to tell I WAS GROWING UP WITH HOLLYWOOD CINEMA.... MISTAKE.... MISTAKE...
But I understood how the "Hollywood" manipulate human mind. Just why it was named as Hollywood symbolically.
It similar to the existence of NETFLIX and what is NETFLIX doing ... I am glad it is in a down fall now...
I did not believe every Fiction film is a pre preparation of a next matrix that we are experiencing and going to act that in our real life.
Example ... Hunger Game / Ominicrone 1965/.DR. Killer... is the film that we are living in now. And the plandamic is the next non ending episode it will be on the screen too soon. Just like the Harry Potter/ JURASSIC PARK/ Star Wars/ JAMES BONDS/ ETC .ETC. They are all run out of contents and try to feed us with some more craps.
Several actors like Jim Carry and film writers and film directors says every film scripts is filtered before they passed for the production by a certain "Three letter agency' based selection.
Well that is another conspiracy theory according to the Holly wood conspirators.
I have thrown away my telivision about 15 years but I continued cinema. I gave it up 10 years back.
But still my addiction goes to western cinemas and I confess I have seen the whole lot of them during the past resent months.... Because all my genetics are wired nostalgically and my memory says I want to go to those older stories...
I was so addicted that when I living in Paris I stared collecting Hollywood cinemas in vinyls records. and then on CDS. Just as Music on CDS it was a very poisonous habit. I am glad I got rid of all of them
They seems to be the pioneer older films done by older productions from Italy/USA collaborations and they came all together as Hollywood production company. Those films are some original B&W colorised for the present digitised reproductions.
I only have two CDS... ENTER THE DRAGON AND METRIX.
I regret we are living in such Dimensions so we can't live anymore in a less complex life.
These thought are really personal and I highly believe we have to be very critical thinkers and it is everyone's right. Sorry if this is Enjoy your cinema I'll volunteer myself to send you a free POP CORN!!!!!

@Cyril, interesting take. All movies/ arts are a form of propaganda and follow distinct ideologies. Action movies have the good vs evil. Romantic comedy, the fallacy of romantic love, which has nothing to do with real life, etc.
On the plus side, Netflix can be the window into the world and how nations/ people view themselves or want to be seen.
And there are many movies which elevate us, make us think and forces us to confront ourselves.

You can compare to a meal. Often times what we eat daily is boring sustenance, but once in the while we hit the jackpot, either we cook something surprising or eat something outside.

@Yazeh ... I agree with you completely. I like to show this to explain where my story comes from.
Sorry this addiction for cinema was very shocking for me still...If someone read my above post he or she could want to label me AS A CONSPIRACY THEORIST!!!
Never mind ... What my take is I learned something from a serious mistake I did and the is how it was going.

I am posting my one year cinema consumption to the American HOLLYWOOD . THIS PHOTO IS MY ONE YEAR CONSECUTIVE CENEMA TICKETS. ( I was doing this many years like this )
I don't know why I did it. It was funnily horrible to find out what is the effects of emotional manipulations and changes that could happen when you are in front of a screen. You cry, you joy, and celebrate or you develop some hating. They are not real and mentally you change your DNA for a fictional story. Your thought is doing that and you live with that. for an unreality.
These ticket collection is from 2009 on.. I was so crazy for Hollywood and want to be their film archive list.

Sorry to have done this crazy exposure. But this need to be told very wide.

Simpson and Hollywood has done lot of damage by manipulation our minds...

End of the day we have to do everything very moderately . .. THAT INCLUDES YOGA TOO...

You're not alone... you're called a film buff

Anything can become an addiction. Before the forums, I was happy with my crappy two crappy fountain pens and my three bottles of ink. Nowadays, I can be unhappy with thousands of bottles of inks and the same amount of fountain pens. Not that I have thousands....
Happiness as you said, can be found inside only and moderately....

Addiction or obsession? I suggest that the former term is overused and overstates the matter, and that the latter is far more appropriate.

The Thin Man movies are a good choice as well. William Powell and Myrna Loy played the leading roles.
