We also watched Dr. Strange very recently and both enjoyed it.

We just upgraded our TV and Blue Ray system. The first 4K film we bought and watched was First Man. We both enjoyed that too.

I watched the Nile-River Incident. An Egyptian movie about a corrupt cop investigating the murder of a singer. It was a very good film with an unflinching look at corruption and how it affects society. If you liked Serpico, Charles Bukowski - then this is a good film.

The Mouse that Roared. An amusing little film from 1959 starring Peter Sellers. Based on the novel by Leon Wibberley.

The Mouse that Roared is indeed amusing.

The last film i saw was Rock and Roll High School. Paul Bartel and Mary Woronov are fantastic as usual.

Battle Royale. It is the original story from which The Hunger Games was copied. Battle Royale is darker, more violent, and intended for a mature audience.

    Fellini's Amarcord

I found it mildly irritating while watching --maybe it was the score -- but i became more positive about the film afterwards.

Taxi Driver -- I wanted to look again at Harvey Keitel's performance, but i just went and watched the whole thing again. It was more disturbing this time through, especially the minor characters like the gun dealer and Scorsese's man in the cab, probably due to the current mood of the country. It was harder to file away as a part of the bad old days. I had also forgotten that the film has an epilogue. I think i would have preferred that it ended with the shootout.

The Friends of Eddie Coyle, a fine film from 1973 about small-time thieves/mobsters. An ensemble piece that is more of a character study than plot-driven. The acting, particularly by Robert Mitchum, Peter Boyle and Richard Jordan is first-rate. Fans of Quentin Tarantino will note that one of the thieves is named Jackie Brown.

Peter Boyle is very underrated. I’ll have to look that one up.

Indeed. A lot of people only know him from the t.v. he did at the end of his career.

    Flesh + Blood

I watched this one in honor of the recently departed Rutger Hauer. It doesn't sugarcoat the harshness and brutality of times long past.

I rewatched “Three Days of the Condor.” Just before that I saw “Yesterday” at the theater. Very fun.

We didn't finish it yet (bedtime) but daughter and I started Spiderman: Into The Spiderverse last night.

What a fun, entertaining movie so far. I love the animation style too. Can't wait to finish it.

(Spidey has been my favorite superhero since I was a kid.)

I've thought I should re-watch that film for a while...
I re-watched the Amy Adams movie Arrival recently--the allegorical parts of it became much clearer. And the Max Richter soundtrack is always worth the listen.

Saw Argo a few nights ago. Given the powder keg Iran is these days, that reality really amps up the impact of the film.
