"Wagon Master" from 1950 by John Ford. OK western about Mormons trying to get across a large expanse of the west with good guys helpin' and bad guys not helpin'. Fabulous landscapes as typical in Ford movies and spectacular horse riding.

I accidentally recorded and decided to re-watch "The Pushover", a good noir from 1954 starring Feed McMurray and Kim Novak (her first film).

    Might be interesting.

The inimitable, harrowing Gaslight, with Ingrid Bergman and Charles Boyer, followed by Pieces of Easter, a tradition on Easter Sunday, depicting a road trip gone wrong.

Ginger Rogers, Ronald Coleman, and a host of 'Ohh, THAT guys' rise above the ridiculous script in 1940's Lucky Partners. We enjoyed it anyway, and not only for the 'Wasn't he in…?' factor.

One of the best films I've seen this year. Humour, pathos. The tagline says it all:

Looked up the cast. There’s something comforting seeing the same actors repeatedly in westerns: Ward Bond, Ben Johnson, Harry Carey, Jr, Hank Worden, Jane Darwell. Plus Jim Thorpe and James Arness.
    Have to go cable surfing.

Continuing on a theme, The Lost Weekend, 1945, Ray Milland. Its theramin music sound track reminded me of The Outer Limits TV series, and while not as harrowing as The Days of Wine and Roses, this movie got me back to the 'typewriter' to work on my so-so supernatural novel.

Taking a break now. But instead of booze, ice cream.

"Menus-plaisirs: les Troisgros" , a four hour documentary on a restaurant in France that has held a 3 Michelin star standing for over 50 years. The level of service and dedication shows what it takes to hold such a status.

The Uninvited, 1944, Ray Milland, Ruth Hussey. Had high hopes upon Milland's chilly narrated opening, but this turned out to be a precursor to the flat, slowww, unspooky Dark Shadows soap opera, which drew heavily on this film.

    I remember liking this...🤔

"The Gazebo" starring Glenn Ford, Debbie Reynolds, and Carl Reiner. A black comedy that COULD have been much funnier but needed a "Woody Allen"-type instead of Glenn Ford.

I saw Robin Hood 2010, Ridley Scott. it felt like a bad remake of Gladiator
I had a chuckle when the French King was using modern colloquial French cussing
I often wondered how would the movie had sounded had it been recorded in the original language.
Probably King Richard would be speaking Occitan language, so would most or some of his soldier

"The Catered Affair" (1956) starring Bette Davis, Ernest Borgnine, Debbie Reynolds, Rod Taylor, and Barry Fitzgerald. Very good mix of comedy and drama with superb acting.
