A: No you didn't; no, you came here for an argument.
M: An argument isn't just contradiction.
A: It can be.
M: No it can't. An argument is a connected series of statements intended to establish a proposition.
A: No it isn't.
M: Yes it is! It's not just contradiction.
A: Look, if I argue with you, I must take up a contrary position.

Watched Patton.
Enjoyed first part.
The 2nd part was a bit flat, cinematically, but what a character....
That uniform is either camp, kitsch, or gay.
He looks like a dictator in a Peter Sellers film.
The Wim Wenders classic, Wings of Desire.
I first saw it years ago, with a friend named Anamarie, who worked on films and was living in Berlin. She had a VHS tape, German, no subtitles, and translated it for me as we watched.

He was quite an unusual character. Politically incorrect by today, even yesterday's standards.
Didn't believe in PTSD etc.
But what a character, he lived for command and war, and believed in reincarnation.
Cinematically the film was beautifully shot and was quite engaging and to be honest refreshing...
As the costume, here is him in full dress uniform:

A brief rant. Just watched a thriller. In the last big scene, the villain sloshes petrol on the two cops he's knocked out and around the basement room. One of the cops wakes up and grabs a battery-powered saw that the villain planned to use to dismember the other cop, and starts sawing through the bars on the window, spraying sparks.
In real life, with the flammable vapor, the sparks would set off a kaboom.
Why don't screenwriters take a class or two in physics?

I get you chip. It frustrates me too, when the character has to leave otherwise they'll die, (a lot in Sci-fi /fantasy), and they still have time to make lengthy declarations of love and devotion.
But in the end, it has nothing to do with physics. It's to create dramatic tension. Movies are all about creating drama, tension, high stakes and the lot. Otherwise one won't be watching them.
I would say, 90% of movies are like cheep snacks, they have no nutritional value

Saw Paris Blues... beautiful shot in glorious textured black and white Paris in the 60s, and lots of Jazz....
awful poster...
Another great French movie! This time, "Quai Des Orfevres" from 1947. In the USA, it was called "Jenny Lamour".

One of Woody Allen's best, especially if you love depression era movies:
Not a movie, but rather a series of short films on Netflix, some animated, some mostly CG, so far with a sci-fi, dystopian bent.
No two alike. Most less than twenty minutes.
Fair amount of nudity, gore, and disturbing images. Probably not for kids or those who suffer nightmares.

Saw Robert the Bruce, with Angus Macfadyen who reprised his role from Mel Gibson's Brave Heart.
It's beautifully shot, mediative and poetic, with action scenes, few and far between. Haven't seen a movie, which takes such risks with the "classical" structure in a longtime and pulls it off.

I saw 1956's "Goodbye My Lady", a Disneyesque coming of age movie (with a Basenji). While it was ok, I wouldn't recommend it here.
