    Default Hello from Indianapolis!

I just discovered fountain pens right at a year ago because of my quite arthritic hands. Other pens can by quite painful to use, but have thankfully found that fountain pens are a different story due to the lack of a need to really grip the pen very much. I've actually have an annual (low) fountain pen budget so am now tending to focus on having a nice selection of inks from which to choose. I am allowed ONE new pen a year, which means I need to put thought and consideration into my purchases. It's the only way my bank accounts can survive my hobbies and interests

My little herd is as follows

    In order of purchase:

    1. Lamy Al-Star (fine) - As it turns out I strongly dislike metal pens - and this one has been given away.
    2. TWSBI 580AL (clear) in medium (love it but gifted it to a friend to get them started)
    3. TWSBI 580AL (pink) in broad (I like broads and stubs - much to my surprise)
    4. Platinum Century 3776 (Med) - I LOVE this pen, but really the medium is much too fine for my tastes
    5. TWSBI 580AL (rose gold) 1.1 stub
    6. Edison Collier (fine and 1.1 stub nib units) LOVE the pen STRONGLY DISLIKE the nibs - thankfully Goulet helped me with the nibs so it doesn't hurt my soul to use the pen. Sadly there will be no further Edison purchases.
    7. Lamy Safari (Charcoal) in Broad: I really don't care for the triangular grip (don't assume that arthritic hands will automatically like that), but its a good one to toss in my purse and leave it there.

So, I've purchased 7, gifted two, and 6 pens is my current pen "herd" limit. I am really not a collector, I just like to have a nice pool from which to draw. So unless I give away more of my pens or happen to break/loose one, my 2018 pen purchase will be the last one for awhile.

I'm choosing between the Lamy 2K, VP Decimo, and perhaps the Pilot Custom 74. I like wet and very smooth nibs. My list was much longer than this but have pared it down to one of these three. I prefer the colors of the full Vanishing Point, but have found my fingers like a grip diameter of ~10mm and the full sized VP is rather larger than that.

At that point, all you can do is laugh and enjoy the descent into debasement.
