Finally got a pic of my Esterbrooks
jacksterp (May 4th, 2014)
I caved and bought an Esterbrook SJ ("root beer"? copper coloured) on eBay and just got it in the mail a few days ago. I haven't even properly photograpphed it yet, but I will tomorrow. I LOVE THIS PEN. So much. I now want several more (too bad the budget says "no way!" at the moment). I love them. I now want a grey one, as well as some of the pastel purse pens (sans clip). They're beautiful pens! I'll be sure to post a few pictures shortly!
Three pics of my lovely new (to me, that is) copper SJ. I didn't know what the big deal about "Esties" was, until I got this beautiful thing. I also have a spare nib (2314M), but I kind of prefer the fine nib (I'm not sold on stub nibs). I think I need to get a few more SJs. They are a great size for my small girly hands. I'm absolutely LOVING lever pens.
The 2314 is a special and not so common nib. The stub is intended to shape the lines of a signature, to give an added dimension of complexity, unique personalization to someone's identification. With practice you can make your writing quite beautiful with them. If you really have no use for it, there are many other who do, and you will find that if it is in good condition, it will fetch quite a premium over the standard ball or needle nibs.

Thank you, I didn't know it was a harder to find nib. I wanted a stub nib on the Esterbrook so I had bought it separately... and I do like the way it writes, but I feel like my writing isn't as nice with a stub nib. I need to play around with it a bit more first... I haven't given up on it!
Chad - very nice collection. Thanks for posting the pic.
kataish - be careful. Esties can be contagious. BTW - I have an SJ "root beer" as well. Enjoy.

Just a basic SJ in copper. But they're great pens!
