Default Recommend a fountain pen reapair shop?

Hi- my mom just gave me her Parker Vacumatic circa early 40’s. I’d like to get it tuned-up/repaired as needed. It hasn’t been used in years.

Can anyone recommend a good repair place?

I live in New York (USA)

    Thanks so much!

A recommendation would be easier/make more sense if you would tell us in which part of the world you are located

Ok, as you might saw Iˋm located in Europe and might not be the best advisor for US located repair shops but Ron Zorn is located in the US and has a really good reputation within the community.

If you live in NYC, consider coming to the next Big Apple Pen Club, usually held on the first or second Thursday of each month. Location is almost always Bard Hall, 58th between 9th and 10th Avenues. About a block from Columbus Circle. One of the members does repairs -- his own pens, which he sells, and pens of members. Check "Clubs and Meetings" here and on FPN early next week.

Ron lives in upstate NY, and he is great.

Look, also, for Indy Pen Dance.

If you end up sending it out rather than going local, many people like Danny Fudge of The Write Pen, who does quality work at reasonable prices. Joel Hamilton of Ink-Pen does great Vac repairs, too. Fortunately, not a hard pen to find good people to work on.

By the way, if you are near Long Island, repairpeople will be at the Long Island Pen Show on April 21-22. http://www.lipenshow.com

    Thanks everyone, much appreciated!

I live on Long Island so was thinking about that show coming up in April.

I didn’t know about the pen group in NYC and will look into that, also!

I happened to look on Ron's web-site yesterday and spotted that he says he isn't taking in any repairs at the moment. Although he will be at a couple of pen shows that are coming up shortly and might be able to fix them while he's there.
