Default A mini-pen shop at a local bookstore

The Kinokuniya bookstore near me in the city of Carrollton, TX invited the Dallas Pen Club to do a mini "pen show" to introduce fountain pens to their customers.

Quite a turn out it was. This afternoon, I and a few members of the pen club setup some pens for display and try out inside the store.
We informed quite a few people who had no idea that in the age of smartphones, the joy of expressive writing is still available and waiting to be discovered.

It was a lot of fun. From the responses we hear, this won't be the last time we'll be doing this.

That is a great idea! I don't think it would work where I live, but something like this would be great for Fargo, ND.

I spoke with one of the store managers and they are quite surprised that there are a lot of people who are into fountain pens. Plus we "converted" quite a few as well.

How delightful! a pop-up pen shop!

Let's hope it's an idea that starts spreading - a marvellous way to get people started on fountain pens, but also something that can help keep bookshops thriving. It looks really busy in the photo.

I’m a Dallas local and I love this store. So sad to have missed this - what a great idea. How can I learn about future dates?

First of all, if you're in Dallas, consider to become a member of the Pen Club, go to our website dallaspenshow.com (yes, the website is named that because the pen club is the org behind the pen show).

Secondly, the feedback that we got from the store manager is very positive, and there will be more of this mini-event in the future. I'll announce it here on FPGeeks, and on my mailing list (redeempens at gmail).

You need to find a bookstore manager that
    1. is not a stranger to hosting events like book-signing, literary events, and find people who like to do art with fountain pens on the spot (like myself and my sketches).
    2. is not bound by corporate rules that she/he can't approach local clubs.

And also it would help if you belong to a non-profit pen club.
