    Default Howdy from Georgia

Earlier this year I got tired of scribbling like mad with ballpoints to apply ink to paper and tried a Pilot Varsity 7-pack. Needless to say I saw light and now have a Metropolitan, 6 super-cheap Jinhao 992's and a couple of bottles of Noodler's. I've already completely destroyed one of the Jinhao's but that's all about education.

I'm working my way through The Pen Addict podcasts and am now at episode 52

After lurking for a while I figured it was now time to sign up.

Removing the feed and the little then plastic shell that's inside the collar that holds the feed. Things got kind of mangled (even doing it by hand). I suppose it could be fixed but for this pen... now I have spare parts.

That's part of the beauty with some of these cheap pens, you can risk sacrificing them as "academic exercises", as a lot of them are cheaper than many of the fountain pens on the market that are sold as disposables. I feel a lot happier pulling these apart and tinkering with them, than if my pens cost £50+ each.
