    Lightbulb Fixing a Lamy 2000

So I just bought a Lamy 2000 with a medium nib. I had heard the reports about a finicky nib and I found that certainly to be the case. While I have several italics and am accustomed to writing a line while not rotating a pen, this was truly difficult. There were several skips and hard starts. This truly surprised me given Lamy's reputation.

    Enter Michael Masuyama.

I sent him this pen and asked for his special grind the Round Nose Cursive Italic (RNCI). It writes so much better and is now one of my favorite pens. Has anyone else had any problems with their Lamy?

Nope, I have never had any nib problems from the multiple Lamy's that have passed through my hands. But, that is only my experience and nib issues can arise from any manufacturer.

The nibs on the Lamy 2000 tend to have a smaller sweet spot than a more rounded point on a Pelikan. I have always found myself utilizing the metal piece—that holds on the cap—to align my grip on a 2000 rather than looking at the nib.

That said, Mike makes everything better.

Nice grind. I like my two Lamy 2000 EFs. No problems.

That’s good feedback. Thank you. I think an EF is next on the list!

If you ever get a chance to get a loupe, check out the difference between Lamy 2000 nibs and round nibs from other manufacturers.
