Maybe that's the point. It's not about the apparent fact that people hear it differently. It's a psychological test to show how easily we lose our tempers with people who won't agree with us.

After having the "science" explained, it's still amazing to me that anyone could listen to that and hear "Laurel". But I'll concede that it's apparently the case. Makes you wonder about real life instances where people "mishear" you in particularly bizarre ways.
Seriously! I tried to hear "yanny." It eluded me! So weird! I wouldn't get into an argument over it. I mean, I hear "laurel," you hear "yanny," let's call the whole thing off. I mean, So? So what? Let's explore why! And the implications! So interesting!

That's okay. You can just ignore it... more. It's not important.

If you still want to know, here's the surprisingly interesting backstory: https://www.wired.com/story/yanny-an...-true-history/

The back story is interesting, not interesting enough to search for the recording though.

One of my interests back while Ike was still President was going to the Library of Congress and checking out the reel to reel wire recordings that were made under WPA projects. One series had people from varied locales and backgrounds read a short story simply to record the dialects that were disappearing. A little later I got to spend time over on Daufuskie Island before any of the development when there was still just one motor vehicle on the Island. Between those I had a few summers driving around Appalachia and The Blue Ridge Mountains and the small town of the Eastern Shore where I really got to hear wonderful musical dialects.
