    Default New P75 Pickup...

I haven't visited or posted in a long time and wanted to share a new acquisition.

I couldn't find anyone IRL that was even remotely interested, let alone excited :-)

I have a bit of curious love affair with Ciseles and this is my 3rd...

This one's special for the steel section threads.

    IMG_E3916.jpg

It joins my other two (one of which has a strange serial number stamped on the section?!?).

Thanks for posting, and being so candid about why you post. I like Parker 75 and 50 (Falcon) with its integrated nib design.

Your comment made me think, why aren't there more people posting? It is true in my life as it is in yours, in my circle of friends, none of them give a hoot about fountain pens and I couldn't get them excited no matter what I showed them.

So why is it so hard to get more people to showcase their pens, be it writing, drawing, collecting, or just talk about it in general in this forum? Are we the only two people with a problem of lacking people to talk about pens in real life?

Interesting! Looks as if the section is shaped? And what is stamped on the (cool-looking) nib?
My other pen is a Montblanc.

And my other blog is a tumblr!

And my latest ebook, for spooky wintery reading:

You are not alone. I have never met anyone in the last forty years who had any interest in fountain pens.

I have gone to several flea markets and never seen a fountain pen there.

    Hi,

I'm new to the forum, but like you (and possibly morningtundra), I also lack people to with about pens in real life. Every time I tell my wife that I found a new, awesome, pen, she gives me a subdued "uh-huh," while she tries to feign empathy, but her facial expression really says "Well, at least he's not gambling or drinking it away."

I suspect many users have gone over to Reddit...

The cross section shape of the Section body is triangluar (!) making it kinda unique to hold. The nib (and feed) can be rotated in the section to adjust to how you hold the pen and writting style. The little markings on the chrome cap help you remember where you set it to... Some feel its a bit of a gimmick. I really like it.

This particular, early version with the steel threads appeared in 1964. The story of the P75 Cisele is quite remarkable and was produced up into the 1990's with several design variations, making them quite collectable.

This is my 3rd and there are several variations I'd love to own.

This was an Ebay find and a particularly crusty and grubby example.

Prices vary widely depending on model variation and condition - and condition can be very deceptive. They're often listed as broken or not working, when all they need is a wash. The silver is easily cleaned and the pen is designed to be completely 'field stripped' so cleaning and unclogging everything is very easy.

... as far as vices go, this one's pretty harmless.

Worse case you you ruin a shirt with a leaky pen, or come to the dinner table with inky fingers!

    Nice catch!

You mentioned a serial number on the section of one of your other P75s. I've seen that on Parkers destined for the Italian market.

Have you ever come across a rubric to decipher these strange numbers?

No, but there's a thread in the other place about them. http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/fo...er-75-section/

There's a pretty good chance that you have a first edition in your hands. I read somewhere that those were the only ones with metal-threaded sections, but can't find the link now; I recall it was a site with a wealth of information about the 75.

You can look up a number of codes here: https://parkerpens.net/codekey.html and here: http://www.richardspens.com/?page=ref/nibs/75_nibs.htm

    There's also http://www.parker75.com

    Enjoy!!!

Have added some photography of possible interest.

It is a very brief summary - it is hardly definitive.( a preface ) to a large file I have on P75's

The file is vastly better than the Parker 75.com which is about 8 / 9 years out of date.

I'd be interested in reading your file - would you be willing to release it?

    Am I right in thinking this is a 1964 MK I ?

When did the Section become all plastic?
