Default Lid won't come off bottle.

The last time I used my bottle of Monteverde Purple Reign I overtightened the cap and now I can't get it open. I've tried using one of those rubber grip things for opening jars and I couldn't get it open. I even tried the same methods one would use for opening a stuck jar lid to no avail.
Any suggestions this side of busting the jar open.

Spoke too soon. I got it off with lots of elbow grease and a jar opning tool in the kitchen drawer that we don't use much.

Be careful using a jar wrench. I broke a cap on one of my Pilot bottles that way. Live and learn (or better yet, learn from someone else's mistakes).

Try standing the bottle cap down in a bowl of warm water that just covers the cap threads. Leave standing for a couple hours and try again.
Usually it is dried ink on the bottle threads that makes the cap stick.

    I have had this problem.

I use a hairdryer to warm up the cap; this usually works, otherwise as suggested above, a good soaking first.

This would have been my suggestion too.

Needless to say (he says anyway), replenishing the water periodically with warm water wouldn't be a bad idea, given that the water cools.

I’ve had this happen a few times and the culprit has always been dry ink. I now check threads before recapping and clean them off when needed.

I can't say this has happened to me yet (I haven't had bottled inks all that long), but I agree with the others. This sounds like dried ink between the cap and the bottle. If you can heat and/or dissolve it somehow, you should be good to go. The others' suggestions seem like they should work, so give them a try. Good luck!

I've had this happen several times. Most of the time the warm water trick works. I've never needed to soak it though. Just running it under hot water out of the tap / faucet for 20-30 seconds tends to work. Hold it at a 45° angle so you get both the top and sides of the cap. Heat causes material expansion in the cap and breaks up the dried ink / glue effect.

Use two thick rubber bands for better grip. One goes around the bottle; the other goes around the cap. Then try opening the bottle again.

This looks like a stupid idea to me:

Running water that can get to the underside of the cap did it for me. Just about a minute in warm water. When filling your pens, wipe the bottle opening and inside of the cap before closing so it won't happen again.

I use sillicone grease on the threads of the caps to prevent them from sticking. Really, the cheapest grease is good enough. You can get a little jar of it for like $1 off of ebay shipped.
