Both of your well-controlled cursive lettering is intimidating. I can't even keep up with post-a-paraghraph-from-a-novel thread....

Like TSherbs, I am so far behind on actual handwritten work (in my case, correspondence) that I can't rightfully do otherwise. Also: @Robalone - regarding your first paragraph, you simply must allow for the fact that in the face of your beautiful penmanship, people who have chaotic and ugly scrawls (raises hand...) frankly feel a bit stupid posting examples!

Jon 🙋🏻*♂️…I am acutely aware of this phenomenon…..and haven’t ever figured a way around it.

To some extent, I find myself feeling similarly when posting any attempt at drawing ….I see some of the work posted here and come over all ‘inadequate' and find I’m embarrassed to put anything up which is so obviously inferior to the masterworks posted by Ptero and certain others !!!!!

I have to say, I am duly impressed when I see attempts by those with very little skill who simply post ANYWAY, and I make sure to give 'thanks' and encouragement wherever possible.

By the same token, I spend an inordinate amount of time practicing my writing, ( being retired I can spend a whole day just doing an S 🤣
Which of course many folk do not have the luxury of doing. And just to maybe put things in perspective, only two or three years ago I was completely rubbish at this kind of script !! but the first time I stumbled across Mauricio’s site and saw his awesome script, I made a commitment that I wasn’t gonna rest until I could come at least within cooee of his talent.

I genuinely feel for folk that are intimidated by nice writing, but when I find myself in a similar situation, I try hard to use it as a yardstick that I can work towards and either emulate, or just appreciate for the wonderful work it is.

For example, as a parent, one doesn’t put down a child’s drawings because they are obviously not good as such, because one knows it’s the best they can do, and if they are interested, they will most likely improve.
And the child , as a rule usually doesn’t give a crap whether their stuff isn’t as good as …someone else’s.

So in closing, if ya wanna get better, ya have to put in the practice . It’s pretty much that simple . ( Ha! Easy to say )

Can I assume http://www.vintagepen.net/? I've browsed that site for years, and it is long bookmarked in my browsers simply to pass along to new users who ask about elegant script and/or flexible nib examples. A wonderful resource.

So in closing, if ya wanna get better, ya have to put in the practice . It’s pretty much that simple . ( Ha! Easy to say )
It isn't beyond the realm of possibility. That said, there are layers here, starting with being left handed and scripts being less kind to the mirror world, as well as my many decades of daily practice... as a musician. I have only recently retired from active playing, and therefore am starting to have more time, but we shall see if the activity of putting in significant time on a new artistic skill - practice - holds my attention and heart as it did with music.

Then again, the thread didn't say written magnificently, did it? No, that was a weight I put on my own shoulders. Mea culpa.

I think I may have written on the wrong side. Took the ink surprisingly well for the wrong side, if it actually was.

Your writing is such an easy read!

Eta For those among us whose knowledge of inks is limited is there any chance we could have a note of the ink in use?

    Thanks
