    Default Mystery Ink #19

Oh look, it's time for our next mystery ink!

As with any mystery ink it is open to FPG veterans, n00bs, newbies, and lurkers. You volunteer, I pick names, I send free ink, you write with it and post your thoughts and observations. Guessing is welcome, but not required. There is nothing to "win" aside from personal satisfaction that you recognized it. No guess is confirmed until the mystery ink is finally revealed. The point of the mystery ink threads is an unbiased review. Fear not about the quality of your handwriting or sketching abilities. We don't care. We are all appreciative of those with the gift of artistic ability, but how well you draw or write doesn't impact your ability to test an ink and provide your opinion on it.

As always, international participants are welcome, but due to shipping costs can expect to receive the next 3 mystery inks and find themselves automatically nominated for the next few rounds.

If my notes are accurate Wuddus and Sammyo are already in for this ink. I'm looking for 6 more volunteers. As with the last round if we have a lot of volunteers I'll drop names into a hat and pick our lucky list of participants.

Wow! That time already? I still have half a pen full of #18.

Yes, #19 is the last of the three Mystery Inks in my possession. I'll work on getting a pen or two empty for it over the next few days.

I have 6 sample vials on my desk waiting for the week to pass and names to be drawn. At the moment no name drawing is necessary though. Only 5 volunteers thus far.

Since I went last month, I'll throw my name in as an alternate if you need to make up the numbers.

I'll say the same thing as last time: while free ink samples are nice and I wouldn't mind doing this again, I'm fine with sitting out to give others a chance, especially if the ink isn't blue/bluish (my preferred color and where I'd likely be able to make better comparisons). But it's up to you and/or the random drawing. Thanks for the offer!

In that case, you do want to play this time.

Thanks to all of the volunteers. The randomly selected reviewers are as follows. They join Wuddus and Sammyo, whom already have MI #19 from prior international shipments.

Two of you are new and should expect to see a private message from me requesting your shipping address. I will get ink samples mailed out as soon as I am able.

I should have all packages in the mail on Thursday. Not enough time yesterday or today. Tomorrow we celebrate tossing tea in the harbor and taxation as theft (only to later love tea and pay greater taxes).

I forgot I put my name in the hat for this one, so I was pleasantly surprised when a sample vial of ink showed up in the mail today. And a plus for me is that it looks basically blue, which is my preferred ink color. Unfortunately, despite the well-taped cap, it still managed to drip a tiny bit inside the envelope and more than that on my hands as I undid the tape. Not a big deal -- it'll all wash off sooner or later. I'm not sure if I'll get around to trying this right away, but hopefully I'll have time on the weekend to write up something.

First day off for a while, so I've inked up a TWSBI Mini with a stub nib. MI#19 is a pleasant teal with more blue than green - I found it quite hard to photograph and match the colour in Lightroom. I've uploaded two attempts, one with flash and one without, hopefully someone else can give it a better shot than me... The flashed photo is the closer of the two, but only just, and the non-flash photo looks "nicer", but the ink has a little more green in it than I've managed to get.

I found it quite a wet writer, but that could be due to the nib a well - I'll try it in something finer soon to compare - and dry times were not unreasonable, but in the long side for every day note taking.
