Here is a blotter I just bought on eBay. It was made in 1938, and came from Harrods in London. Cosmetically it shows some wear, but it works perfectly and has plenty of life left in it. I took a photo of it on my desk, which is such a mess that I had to clip out the clutter and replace it with a light cyan background, lest I broadcast my messiness to the entire world.

Mostly paper towels or paper napkins. After flushing out a pen I have an old hand towel that absorbs the slightly inky water.
