Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

Annie: it's not fair! Offering this wonderful stuff; no-one will want to look at my old crocks!

Sadly another meet I can't make (sad face).
I was looking forward to this one too (German beer) but my wife's friend has just lost her husband to cancer and has a babysitter for Saturday so they're off into London to see a show to cheer her up a bit.
Have fun (and let's hope I can make the next one).
The Geeks met at the Bierschenke at noon today. Attendance was down due to some regulars being unable to attend. Those who did turn up were RuiFromUK (and his lovely wife), Annie, oldstoat, Cob, Migo984 and yours truly. We all had a lot of fun and many pens were tabled to sample. Here are some of the pics from the day ...
Attendees: Clockwise from the left - yours truly, oldstoat, Annie, RuiFromUK, Cob and Migo984
"Show us the pens!"
The table top adorned with Cob's wares ...
oldstoat: "It used to be this big!"
Annie nibmeistering ...
"OK, who is guilty of ordering this meal!"

Yes a great meeting today - as the pictures show most clearly!
A big "Thank-you" to Rui for his expert organisation and for proposing this very good venue; and I am sure that Annie was pleased with the illumination.
We must now perhaps focus on finding a new name for this monthly gathering - although I suppose that there need be no reason to change it - for tradition's sake?
Best regards to all
Cob

As Murfie's from Australia, and Jeph was visiting from Germany last time, and as we no longer meet in the dark caverns of The Coal Hole, may be we should rename this thread. International Pen Molesters, possibly? All suggestions welcome, as are any pen fiends who happen to be in London. I think we agreed on the next meeting being December 6th, again at the Bierschenke.
Some days, it's hardly worth chewing through the leather straps....
I was looking forward to this I really was but being locked in the house I was working on by my client who went on holiday this morning kind of put the kibosh on it. For those of you who wish to laugh conjure up if you will the mental image of a slightly overweight Decorator trying to fit through a first floor window which didn't open nearly enough to lower himself onto his stepladder which he'd previously lowered out of the window this afternoon.
I would like to forget all about the events of this afternoon and look forward to the 6th of December.
Great pics by the way I'm glad you all had a good time.
It sounds like I missed a great gathering.
Did I spot a blue Phileas in 'oldstoat's' hand?
Yes you did. Sharp eyes!

Looks like a good meet!
I was so sad to miss it I went on the interweb and bought a Parker 17 with a broad nib!
As for a new name - I had never thought we had a name (just a thread title).
I hope to make the next meet but I suspect it's a college day for my wife - it would appear the gods are agin me.
They are astonishingly good value; mine was an eBay purchase and piece of good luck. A non-FP person had it listed as"rare vintage Waterman Paris pen -cartridge empty" and a blurry photograph. Keep your eyes open and good luck.

Indeed it was a fun meeting but I had to (almost completely) behave on the pen purchasing side as my wife was present.
At the same time I more than relieved that everyone was happy with my suggestion for the new venue including the staff of the restaurant who had a good laugh at my booking for a table "with good lighting as we are members of a fountain pen club who like to look at each other's pens". Sometimes I miss the finer points of the English language.
Oddly the last lot I followed on the bay went for what I would call silly money for a 17.
Every one I've had before from the bay was a dog or a fine nib so I bought this one off a sellers site to make sure I got a broad nib.
I'm going to offload over half my pens in the next couple of weeks because I want a new pair of cans. Whatever 's left over can then be used to go pen hunting again as I have to sell pens to fund new acquisitions these days.
Almost ready for December's meeting:
1- Montblanc ink samples ready for Migo
2- English bulb filler restored and ready to show Cob
