Default ID request: German school pen from 1950-ies

    Dear fellow forumites and pen-o-philes:

Recently, I have com in the possession of two vintage fountain pens, one of which was quickly identified as a Pelikan 120.

The other one however, is a mystery. (to me, at least)

I know the history of the pen, it was purchased by my father in the fifties of the previous century. Later, my brother used it for a while, put it away somewhere, and it got forgotten. It resurfaced, and now I have it.

There is no brand or model name anywhere on the pen, it is a black piston filler. The clip looks vaguely Pelikan-esque, the rest of the pen looks a bit Geha-esque.

See pictures, if anyone could identify this pen, that would make me happy! I have already looked in Mr. Lambrou's "Fountain Pens Of The World", but couldn't find this pen.

    Kind regards,

    Jos

By the logo, could be a Senator:

I think you might be right. A quick search on the interwebs reveals several "Senator" pens that look very similar to my dad's one. I only can't find one with the exact same clip.

    Thanks!

If there is no step down from barrel to piston knob, it is possible it is a Pelikan 120 Merz and Krell. The 120 M & K was made in the 70's. Bevel on the cap band. Some plating loss on the cap band on mine. But thw cap is also stamped Pelikan 120.

The date is wrong for the M&K 120, my dad's pen was purchased in the fifties. Also, the cap is different. That being said, it seems that this Merz&Krell and Senator were somehow related.

    Kind regards,

    Jos

A cap mismatch maybe? Because that does look like a Pelikan cap. Or a replacement clip?

The clip looks like a rip-off of the Pelikan design, but not identical. It lacks the pelican's eyes. Might it be a Pelikan sub-brand?

Many German piston fillers have that style of clip. I often come across good quality unbranded pens like this one - school pens, I suppose, but very well made ones.

Yes, some Geha pens also have that Pelikan look but I agree that it's most likely a Senator.

Thank you very much for the fact that you have presented a pen that is convenient for schoolchildren who write papers in the gallery. But I also want to recommend schoolchildren to write articles with the help of a pen and anger with the help of a booklet that is presented here - this is an excellent site on which to find the right reviews of companies that provide assistance in writing papers for students and students. There is a review of excellent companies and companies that need to be remote and on the Internet.

Good question. You never know - one day he might suddenly appear and do something about them. We can only live in hope.
