Great looking slide rule there! And a K&E no less. My collection is up to around 30 different K&E’s. Some Post’s, and others. I have my very first one that I got back in Puerto Rico, when my dad was stationed at Ramey AFB.

I had to grab a box out of storage today while I was in Tampa visiting the kids and grandkids and found these two.

A mint Deci-Lon and a mint Decli-Lon 5.

I believe there is only one more K&E slide rule I truly want. I know how to use them except this last one, which is ‘for thinking outside the box’. It’s the K&E Analon slide rule. I always get out bided on this one as there are other people who want it more than I do.

Long long ago and in a land ... I used to smoke; pipes, cigars, cigarettes. I also had a whole bunch of the Bulova tuning fork Accutrons that a friend had been trying to buy for ages. He ran an antique store and since I was not likely to wear them again I agreed to sell them to him at a somewhat ridiculously low price. He asked if I still had my pipes and was I interested in selling those?

"Old smoking pipes?" "There's a market for used smoking pipes?"

Seems there is and it's even pretty active at the time so I said sure. But then I went to the box I knew I had stored them in and it was filled with old shaving brushes and razors and shoestrings and almost empty cans of shoe polish and neatsfoot oil.

I had mostly freehand pipes when I did smoke a pipe. I always found the top of freehands added a nice look to the pipe.

Freehands are nice. I am typically drawn to classical shapes. I picked up pipe smoking to add more relaxation in my daily life. It sets the rhythm of the day or hour. It seems to go quite well with writing with a fountain pen.

Awww...my mistake, thanks for setting me straight. When I was growing up I hated classical music. A friend at work had me listen to it for a week. Three days into the week I didn’t mind it and on the second week I was liking it. Listen to it all the time now for over 30 years.

I recently saw an exhibit of fantastic black and white photographs that the artist originally took digitally and retook using 35 mm film format. It was a series of character studies with the primary interest being the characters facial features. Surprisingly, she was not satisfied with quality of detail, etc. once the digitals were enlarged for display. Film format gave her the outcome she wanted to achieve.

I love to develop my own film in my laundry room, I do black and white and also c-41 color, but with color I hate the smell of the chemicals.

I developed black and white in the past but never did color. There were additional cost involved. IIRC, you needed a color head assembly and the chemicals were at a certain temperature??? The other reason was I was having way to much fun with the Zone system in B&W.

It doesn't take much to pixilate a digital image but it's near impossible to do that with film.
