    Default Aurora 88 1950s Gold LE ?

I may acquire a 1950s Aurora 88 what was made for a Naples retailer. It is a limited edition of 100. Does anyone have information on this?

Looks like a pretty normal example of the 88. Are you sure it was an LE? Is it numbered?

The only information I have right now is what I have mentioned. I am not sure if it is a numbered edition or if they just made a short batch like the Sheaffer Masterpieces.

Apparently this was a special design made in a batch of 150 actually. Specifically for this retailer in Naples. The Aurora information is on the nib itself.

Not much information, but it was called Aurora 88 Aquila. Aquila is a family from Napoli which from much time is involved in production of pens (for example Lalex was one of the brand used), currently the owner of Montegrappa comes from that family.

Well, it has been just a bit over a year since I started this thread and about a week ago I actually obtained this beauty. I didn't know I would love it as much as I do. It has a serious amount of heft, which I love, and a flexy nib. It seems to be NOS or barely used if at all.2019-12-23 18.46.27.jpg

Physically, yes. Unfortunately, a few days after it arrived a couple problems arose. Nothing I can't get taken care of but it'll be out of commission for a while. It wrote like a dream until then.
