    Default Sheaffer Triumph nib

So I'm trying to remove the nib from a Sheaffer Triumph. Why is this nib so stubborn? What is the most efficient way to remove it? I heard that there is a special tool that can be used, but I don't know where to purchase it or how much it costs. Any advice is helpful. Thanks.

Rather you than me. In the past I've read a lot of threads on another forum about removing the nib from a Sheaffer Triumph, and it's never straightforward, even with Francis Goosen's special tool. I know that Francis doesn't make pen tools anymore, so if you need a special tool for your Sheaffer Triumph then maybe PenTooling might have one.

Meanwhile, if no-one else comes along with any ideas, please may I suggest that you type "Remove nib from Sheaffer Triumph" into your Google search box, and read some of the threads that come up in that search. In particular, you should be looking for information given by Ron Zorn of Main Street Pens who is a Sheaffer expert.

Good luck with it. I hope you get your pen fixed.

I did it once. I heated the nib in hot tap water to soften the cement (sealer?) and then slid a piece of rubber tubing over it. The tubing lets you get a grip with your fingers. Steady turning pressure did the job.

Ok, so I was very careful. Spent 24 hours soaking and heating the nib unit, then softly but firmly turning the nib unit by hand (with a gripper). This morning, after heating the nib one last time, the nib and feed both removed safely. I have another Triumph that I would like to restore, but I am hesitant, as I don't want to break the nib/feed section apart during removal!

A risk we all take. Do your diligence and go slow.
