Default Ink Review: Cult Pens Deep Dark Green (Diamine Exclusive for Cult Pens)

Today I'm reviewing Cult Pens Deep Dark Green ink.

Cult Pens Deep Dark Green is one of the 6 inks in the “Deep Dark” range that are made exclusively for Cult Pens by Diamine Inks.

Deep Dark Green is a saturated dark green ink that leans slightly blue rather than yellow and exhibits some nice shading. I found it flowed very well with all of the pens I tried it in, felt quite wet, and it’s lubrication was very smooth across the page. On Tomoe River papers I could see some dark red sheen

It’s a dark green ink similar to Diamine Green/Black but slightly darker and slightly less blue.

My review was written on 100gsm smooth coated paper, that is not very absorbent, and I saw no spread, show-through or bleed-through. It dried fairly quickly on almost all of my papers and even when it showed through I could easily have written on the reverse of all of them.

Cult Pens Deep Dark Green is not sold as a waterproof ink but showed some water resistance.

It washed off of my hands easily with bar soap and water, and didn’t stain my pens or the insides of my converters that I rinsed out with warm water as usual.

    • Flow/Lubrication: Very good - felt quite wet.
    • Nib Dry-out: Not noticed.
    • Start-up: Immediate.
    • Saturation: Saturated
    • Show-Through/Bleed-Through: Most noticeable on CiAK inTempo and Hobonichi Techo papers.
    • Spread / Feathering / Woolly Line: None seen.
    • Nib Creep / “Crud”: Not seen, even after several days in the pen
    • Clogging: Not seen.
    • Availability: Available in 80ml and 30ml bottles plus International sized cartridges from Cult Pens web-site.
