    Default Parker 45 pattern - IMPERIAL ?

    Some help please.

Can anyone tell me what Parker 45 pattern this is - the name

Before you say DOUBLE OR LAMINE please have a good look at photograph 2 & 3.

The word ‘ Imperial ‘ was mentioned from informed others that I have asked in the past.

The ballpoint is unusual. I have never seen one before.

I am guessing now, it is Meru, France 1967 – 1969

If you have one that is similar I would really like to see any photography and your thoughts / where you got it from / any history of the pen / ballpoint.

Most have seen this pattern on Parker 75’s.

    Thank You.

I should have paid more attention to the 45s back in the day. These are beautiful.

Insignia seems to be the one with the "shallow" grooves ... I had never seen that one

There was a "Signet" that was similar though

Another great source of info... FYI
    http://parker45pens.com/parker-45-insignia/

he later version has the gold end caps instead of black plastic and are now stamped as “Rolled Gold” on the cap. Rolled Gold means a thinner layer of gold then the earlier Gold Filled pens, but still far thicker and far more hard wearing then the electroplated gold plate on modern pens. This change was made at around the same time as the ordinary Flighter Pens changed from a black plastic end cap to the chrome one in around 1970

    Insignia02

At some point in the early 70’s (the earliest confirmed date we know of is 1973) the Insignia saw another change. The long end cap was removed all together, whilst the barrel was lengthened to keep the size in line with the other 45s, with just a small black plastic disk in place of the end cap. The taper was kept, giving these pens a unique shape amongst the Parker 45s. We have seen examples made by Parker in the UK and France but as yet not the USA where we believe the previous gold tip version was still being made at this time. This would lead to speculation as to whether this version was trialled in Europe as an early attempt to get rid of the end cap which never really went anywhere. Either way these pens are now comparatively rare and just a little bit unusual in the Parker 45 family.

    insignia03

Parker Argentina and Brazil also produced a similar gold pen with no end cap and a Parker 61 style Arrow.

    christof,

A great many thanks for your close up photography of the cap band and barrel jewel.

    Not sure what to say.

Totally amazing, I doubt anyone has ever seen a pen like this before.

    I offer photography of a different pattern, a Parker 45 Guirlande ( GARLAND )

It is a P45, but so very P35 ( have added 2 photographs of an actual P35 Guirlande ( GARLAND )

    Any comments would be appreciated.

Please can anyone assist me with any more information about pre 1970 information about Parker’s 45 production at Meru France.

I know the factory opened in 1953, they made Parker 51 and later 45 & 61 nibs.
All records show that it was initially an assembly factory for Europe distribution only ?

Have added a header page for a file I made about 7 years ago on Parker production, it may be of interest to some.

thanks for these informations. that's a quite interesting topic.

Have had a little help to answer my question from others not here.

It would appear that the Parker factory at Meru, France manufactured :

    1968 Parker 75’s
    1969 Parker 61’s & 45’s

Have added a Parker 45 history header sheet to the files that I have.

    Any informed comments please

Was sent this email this morning from a collector ( not a member )

An example of a Meru France production of a Parker 45 Insignia Flighter black tip.

    It is pre 1969.

I would be very interested to see any others.

    Have Great New Year all
