the humble but mighty Christmas card, which people in Britain have been*sending since 1843
That's about the time A Christmas Carol was first published!

I am hoping to send out a few cards in the next few days -- we shall see if I can pull it off. I'm also behind on Christmas shopping.

I sent about 80 cards this year. Six to eight internationally.

Ironically Sir Henry Cole, the instigator of the first Christmas card, only did it because he was too busy to write letters at Christmas. Ghastly pasteboard Victorian invention, IMO. Do not get me started on the "Round Robin letter".

The only appropriate response to this is BAH, HUMBUG!

...I'm not saying that I don't agree with you, though.

Cards. Definitely. I love shopping for them right after Christmas!
