    the humble but mighty Christmas card, which people in Britain have been*sending since 1843
    That's about the time A Christmas Carol was first published!

    I am hoping to send out a few cards in the next few days -- we shall see if I can pull it off. I'm also behind on Christmas shopping.

    Ironically Sir Henry Cole, the instigator of the first Christmas card, only did it because he was too busy to write letters at Christmas. Ghastly pasteboard Victorian invention, IMO. Do not get me started on the "Round Robin letter".
