Default amk was asking - Flexible stub

On the thread about italics amk asked about Flexible broad nib pens.

The one on the left is a Waterman #5 keyhole flex stub nib. This kind of nib was intended to be used to create a more secure signature. A handwriting expert could tell the variances in pressure, by the splaying of the tines, and the twisting of the hand. A signature made with a thin stiff nib does not convey much of the characteristics of the hand movements and are easier to forge. Non-flexible stub nibs convey some characteristics such as twisting motions, but do not convey the up and down pressure as well.

Yes, these nibs are very handy, they combine writing attributes from both worlds, flex and italic.

One favorite pen of that type in my humble collection is a Waterman 45 safety with a broad italic flexible nib.

Ive been trying for 20 minutes and cant get my pics to load nd cant get them up. So here is my Moore 72 with a broad stub that i have in ebay now for viewing. It truly is an amazing writer. I have an oddball lady duofold with a medium stub as well.

Wow! fantastic nibs! this is just the most drool-worthy thread on FPGeeks!

I'm fascinated by the idea of a pen that automatically makes signatures more secure. That's a kind of early biometric authentication device!

I have a couple of vintage pens with flexy stub nibs - they're Watermans and Mabie Todds for the most part. I gave the best one to an artist friend, because she got better lines out of it than I did.

How's this for flexy stubs? It's the nib in the middle.
