Hello everybody. I have been writing with fountain pens for 20 years, and now have some friends
and younger relatives who are getting interested in them. I thought it would be nice to connect
with some like-minded fountain pen geeks.

Hello and welcome to FPGeeks.

Welcome! Curious, what sort of pens and inks do you have or favor? I've only been at this since last April and still so much fun exploring different pens.
Hello and welcome, happy new year.
Hello and thank you for the advice concerning EF Watermans. Over many years, I've owned Parker/Watermans, Sheaffers and a Cross.
I've pared the collection down to one Sheaffer, one Cross and two Watermans. As you saw from my questions about the Watermans, I
know almost nothing about inks. Unitl recently, I was very much a passive consumer of fountain pens and inks. There was a great little
shop near my office called "Ken's for Pens." They carried Parker/Watermans, Sheaffers, Crosses and Mont Blancs, so those were the
brands I bought (except for the Mont Blancs). In my ignorance, I just bought whatever black ink they had at the time --- it was usually
Waterman, Parker or Sheaffer.
The Cross and the Sheaffer took any ink without complaint, but the Watermans did not. Knowing nothing about nib-tuning or the wet / dry
ink dichotomy, I just cleaned the Watermans and put them in storage. I only recently took them out and started asking around about
their finicky ink preferences.
It is fun to try different pens. My sister and niece have caught the fountain pen bug and are now introducing me to their new pens and inks.
Happy New Year
Steven
