Default New Iroshizuku Inks Coming in March

I received an email this a.m. from nibs-dot.com announcing, among other things, a limited edition set of seven new iro. inks - the Seven Gods of Good Fortune:

    http://www.nibs.com/ink/pilot-iroshi...eid=6fdf4ceb7f

Other than Hotel-san (a green-black) none of these inks is of interest to me, but others may have a different view.

Oh dear. Yet another company that couldn't resist jumping on the LE ink bandwagon. Naturally, with the associated price hike. I have and enjoy quite a number of Iroshizukus, but damned if I'm going to play these games.

This one we've known about since the 100 anniversary items were launched. Each is tied to one of the pens and at present are believe to be limited editions.

Too late if you already played with them in the past and their regular ones, as their regular ones are priced as others LE inks.

Canny shopping can make all the difference. Something which tends not to be an option with anything LE.

Since their big price drop a couple of years ago, Iroshizuku inks can be had for not much more than most other mainstream brands.

When these were first announced I considered getting the whole set just to have it, but I think I’m just going to go for the 50ml bottles of colors I would actually use.

    A rather impressive presentation: http://www.pilot.co.jp/100th_makie/e...even_gods.html
Btw as usual 14.5 USD (plus tax) for 50ml in Japan and double in States

From the limited info available online, these look really rather nice - but half the colours I would never use, and the other half I probably already have acceptable equivalents. Although I do enjoy the Iroshizuku inks, and have half a dozen colours, I find the caps on the full size bottles don't really feel like a match to the quality of the rest of the package. Ink is only useful if I can get into the bottle to use it without risking spilling it everywhere... such a shallow, slippery, difficult-to-grasp bottle cap risks an inky disaster whenever I want to fill a pen. It's a pity the limited edition inks don't come in redesigned bottles.

If need to see a decent swab of these colors before buying. Did I miss something on the Nibs.com ad?

Agreed - I don't think you missed anything. Nibs is probably just posting info/pics it received from Pilot, and the absence of swabs is a concern. Perhaps as we get closer to the March release date . . .

Pilot UK they have no plans to stock these inks according to the reply I received to my enquiry.

Unfortunately, we are not selling these inks in UK.

The full of set of seven pens and seven inks is a steal at a mere ¥5,000,000 (about $45,625 US). Of course, each individual pen with its corresponding ink is only half a million yen, meaning the box the complete set comes in costs one and a half million yen all by itself, or almost $14,000. That's a little stiff.

Only in the west. I realized on my trip to Japan recently Pilot products are very reasonably priced...in Japan. Needless to say I bought a bunch of stuff.

EDIT: I had a chance to see the above mentioned $50k set in person in Tokyo Itoya. That set is stunning. I see where the price comes from. Kinda.
