In my head "Librarianuary" immediately became "Orangutanuary".

It acts like a cross between a spell-checker and a search engine. Do you think it is a 'droid?

It might be a coincidence but Ella was a chatbot program that was developed almost 20 years ago.

People are saying it's a spam-bot. Not that I know what a spam-bot is. Nor do I know how it helps the person who put it on here.

Chrissy, best I can describe it, "bots" are programs that are written to observe patterns, and do something with it. It's been with us since the early days of computers, but with the "always on" internet, the capabilities of these bots are amplified.

It is written by people whose motivation is often bragging rights or just simply curiosity or data gathering.

Some bots are actually helpful because they can spot trends and patterns that we (humans) could miss because we have better things to do than watching for patterns 24/7

"Spam-bots" are bots that may have been deployed with ulterior motive of spamming for different goals, like marketing, or fishing for clicks, or something else.

Oh good. I thought this was an assignment. With my schedule, any reading is a challenge right now...
