Default Is this an Omas Paragon or Milord?

    Hello

I thought was an Omas Milord.
I then acquired a celluloid Paragon which is exactly the same size, apart from the nib being a two tone vs solid gold on this one.
Capped length of this pen is 14cm

Only markings are on the cap which read Omas Italy. This dates it to around 2001-2004 from what I can tell. My other Paragon has the same markings.

Thank, any input appreciated. I've done a search and read what I could on both forums. Length would indicate a Paragon, but the nib has me questioning as all Milords I see have the solid gold nib.
Do all Paragons have the bi-color nib?

If both pens are from the same time frame, then I would venture a guess that this is a paragon. Since Paragon was used to denote the largest sized model produce at any time.

I'd love to know what the more experienced members think.

Some Omas Paragon pens have monotone gold nibs, so a two-tone nib doesn't confirm whether a pen is a Paragon or a Milord. The difference is based on pen size.

Both of my Omas Paragons are 14cm long capped. The Revelations version has a monotone gold nib and the Cinema has a two tone gold nib.

What a happy co-incidence. I would like to know the answer to that too, because I have two identical pens (one blue, one black) that look exactly like yours but are 12cm long capped. Does that mean they are Milords? Also the blue one has what looks like "2003" embossed on the cap beneath the OMAS Italy, but the black one does not have any number. Would that be year of production?

This caused confusion with me as well, and another Geek answered it as follows: https://fpgeeks.com/forum/showthread...l=1#post228642

12cm size is the Lady. Celluloid versions of these are seen with a ringtop and attached matching string tassel.
The old style Milord is mid 130's mm.

2003 would be a date. On the larger pens the date is usually on the section.
Omas didn't always date pens, especially after about 2000. Absence of a date doesn't mean anything.

Thanks for that. Would you know what size nib it takes and if they can be purchased?

I would guess a #4 nib for that. Measure the diameter and length of the feed. It's a common vintage size.
If you don't need the Omas engraving you can easily find a nice soft nib from the vintage dealers.

I've seen the Omas Lady nibs for sale occasionally. I remember sellers asking about $40 for them. But because of the size there's not much demand for them. Let''s hope they haven't been scrapped.

    Good luck!

The largest size pen manufactured as a non-limited edition in their most current production was the 12-faceted Paragon, the second largest being the Milord. OMAS' product range was last updated in 2005. The Milord model became the size of the pre-2005 Paragon model. OMAS continued to release limited editions based on their earlier style of pens.

Basically: made before 2005 = ("old style") paragon. Made after 2005 = milord.
    Hope this helps

Mottishaw at Nibs.com have Omas nibs. I got a superb cursive italic from them. They are substantially more than $40, however.
