Default Parker burgundy maxima star clip

    Hello,
I found a 1938 Parker burgundy maxima with star clip. Chevron print on the cap band and a star on the clip. I’ve tried googling everything I could think of to find more about the pen and I’m stumped. It has “geo s vacumatic made in USA 8” on the barrel. Any ideas on how I can find the value of this pen?
    Thanks!

Posting a photo of the pen would help.
How do you know it's a Maxima model?

Most call these pens early Parker Duofold Vac Maxima

There are 3 types - Major, Senior ( There are others that are In between ) it is dependent on the nib length & body size

As for value, I would like to see what others think.

It vastly depends on the condition and if it has full function

( Not vast amounts of money )

I have always thought they were very primitive, never collected them.

I just googled a bunch of stuff to try to get the measurements and found an identical one that was a maxima. It’s in pretty good condition as it’s been stored in its box.

This is the only way I can figure out to load pics. I hope it works and if not I’ll delete the thread and try something else.

I can't see this image. To post an image select Go Advanced. On the edit panel click the icon that looks like a paper clip. A panel will open, at the upper right is "Add Images" button. Click that and browse to your image. Upload it and it will appear in your images panel. Drag the image from there to the lower box to include it in the message.

And don't forget to reduce the size of the image file before uploading.

Here we go, I link the photos of the pen on your behalf, Josie17.

Looks like facebook allow direct linking to their static images, not in a very obvious way, but it works for now:

It's a bit skinny to be a Maxima to me, more like a Long Major but now everyone can chime in

Exact dimensions may not have been settled. As a late 1938 second gen vac, it is one of the very first of its kind to have become generally available.

From the length of the blind cap it looks like the speedline filler rather than the lock-down filler from the earlier generation. Is the filler aluminum or plastic?

    What a wonderful looking pen.

I thought the end jewels looked magnificent, never seen this pen from this angle. ( The striped jewels ........ )

Most would say it is Parker Duofold Vacumatic Maxima - Major model

Long name for a pen !

As for value, possibly not as much as you would think.

    For those interested.

The nib on this pen went on to create the very best ever produced.

“”Most would say it is Parker Duofold Vacumatic Maxima - Major model

The photos you posted are a “Vacumatic Major” model. It’s not a Maxima or a Duofold. Collectors would call it a “Double Jewel Major Vacumatic” because it has the striped end pieces on both ends.

    BrianMcQueen,

    Many thanks for your reply.

My education of pre 1950's Parker pens continues.

Am always interested to learn new things - that is why I am here.

Proteus, no problem. Vacumatics are my specialty. Your pen has the thinner cap band with that patterns should be 4mm tall. The Maxima is a fatter pen and has a 5mm talk cap band with the same engraving pattern. See this image for reference.
On the left is a Major. In the middle is a Slender Maxima. The Slender Maxima is the same size as the Major but has a wider cap band. On the right is a Maxima. You can see it is a bigger diameter with the bigger cap band.
