Default Lunchtime ink review: Waterman Intense Black

Lunchtime ink reviews! I'm taking one ink to work each day and doing one of these during my lunch.

Waterman Intense Black, dip test with TWSBI Eco 1.1mm stub, on Rhodia dotpad.

It has a little bit of silvery (and maybe slightly red? It mostly looks like graphite) sheen in some places. When used like this it looks decently black to me. You can see it gets to a very dark grey in some of the less wet lines towards the end, and the final single-strength scribble. I'm happy to call this a black ink though.

I keep a bottle of this on my desk; a coworker has taken to calling it “Waterman Gray.” He’s not entirely wrong.

I've only ever used this in cartridge form in my MB221. It seemed dark enough for work if not as black as some inks.

I wouldn't mind testing it in more pens and on more papers. My wife loaded some in her Hemisphere so I will get to try it out there at least.

Thanks for reviewing black inks. They don't get enough love

I don't usually ink up pens with black myself - blue-black is my "serious" colour - but I keep receiving dregs of black inks of unknown provenance in second-hand pens, so wanted to have something to compare them against. Of course, it is hard to compare them accurately while the pen they are in is full... and once it isn't, the mystery ink has gone!

I might keep a black ink in my M805 - I've got used to that pen having black in it now
