Default Pelikan 400 "Special Version" identification

There is a seller over at FPN that is offering a "Pelikan 400 size Special Version" for a good chunk of money. The pen is pretty, no doubt, but I haven't been able to properly identify the model. I checked Dominic's site but there is no mention of this "Special version". Any ideas as to this pen's id?

This is a m400 cap with a m760 barrel. Its the anniversary barrel, Carlos. The cap should also be metallic. It's a nice looking frankenpen

I am open for corrections but the pen looks like a stripped M760 (an M760 barrel with an M400 twist knob and a M400 cap).

So "Special Version" may indicate here "home-made".

You are correct with the pen parts Jos. Maybe the seller does not know that. This is so flagrant I don't believe its on purpose.

Thank you Vasco for your quick and thoughtful answer. After checking Dominic's site I suspected as such, but I prefered that someone more knowledgeable than myself make a proper identification.

But it's a very nice looking combination, don't you think? I like the look very much.

You never know. But if I would be ignorant on the exact model, I would also not describe the pen as a "Special version".

Anyway, it is a good looking pen and an elegant solution for an M760 from which the cap got lost.

I do like it better than the metal-cap-and-knob original - it is more like a Toledo now!

It actually is a special edition. It's a Mitsukoshi #660 - 400 were made in 1995 for the Japanese Mitsukoshi stores.

Thatˋs interesting, thanks for the info.
So not a Frankenpen, actually a really rare special limited edition.

I found an article about this pen:

That is great info, I was not aware about the "Mitsukoshi #660" Pelikan. Great article also from Joshua at the Pelikan's Perch.

But still: the "Mitsukoshi #660" lacks the decorative golden trim ring at the front of the section which the M760 had. By this small but clever adaptation, Pelikan may have prevented that we could build our own "Mitsukoshi #660" from parts of M760, M400 and M600 pens.

The "Special version" shown at the top of this thread also has that trim ring at the section.

You are rigth Jos. The ring in the section is not present on the #660 depicted by Joshua.

I'm still going to go with this pen being a cleverly rebuilt frankenpen. It is possible that the seller is unaware and was sold this pen as the Mitsukoshi #660

    Good catch, jos.
