    Default MT Big Blackbird

There was a Blackbird sold on ebay today #313475270651. The seller had a rating of 2. The seller described the pen as a Big Blackbird but the pics did not show the right imprint and the nib was wrong. I asked the seller to confirm that it was a Big Blackbird and they said that the nib showed BIG BLACKBIRD although the nib was so dirty that I couldn't confirm his comment.

If the buyer is on here then you may want to check the description against what you receive and have the knowledge that the seller is already on alert.

Must admit, that I am always cautious about sellers with many items for sale who appear to have been born again.

I just looked, and the nib does definitely say BIG BLACKBIRD 14CT MT&CO and the imprint looks OK too.

His biggest error was that he listed it as fountain-pen rather than fountain pen, and as a result, many potential buyers will have missed it.

You mean to say you don't search for Pelicans, S(c)(h)(ae)eaf(f)ers, and fountian pens in hopes of a sumgai deal?

Your eyes must be better than mine, all I can see on the nib is Blackbird, the nib also does not look like a #8

The imprint just says Blackbird and not Big Blackbird and also says Made In England and not Made in Londres which is the case with my Big Blackbirds. The size of the pen would also appear to be regular Blackbird size.

However, you may be right, I cannot enlarge the pics and the pic quality is not that great.

The nib definitely says big - this is the best closeup I can get

    big-blackbird-1.jpg

I have to admit, the one I have looks slightly different - but nib imprints of that age are pretty inconsistent, and mine is a black pen.

I wonder if it's 'big' nib that's been added to a BB/2 - the imprint would seem to say just Blackbird as far as I can see

It's not a horrendous price though. And it's a good pen either way...
