Default Pilot 823: HELP - ink seeping through threads

    Hi all,

I've got a used Pilot 823 and it's seeping ink through the threads (where the barrel is screwed onto the section).
When screwing the barrel back on, I can see some bubbles form on the threads and that's where the ink seeps through.

It's not gushing through, so it's probably micro-holes or micro-scratches inside the threads.
But it's annoying to get inky fingers after writing with the pen for more than a few minutes.

After thoroughly flushing and cleaning, I tried greasing the threads on the inside with silicone, but it doesn't seem to make much of a difference (maybe takes 1-2 minutes longer to start seeping through).

Someone suggested to apply some epoxy with a toothpick (and I could pinpoint the right spot, because of the bubbles).
Does anyone have experience with this kind of situation / repair?
I wouldn't know which kind of epoxy to get. But I'll try for sure, before outright buying a new barrel.

Appreciate any suggestions and thanks for reading.

Did you just purchase it? Contacted the seller?

Just purchased, contacted the seller. But for him it was a catch & release (he exchanged the nib).
As he's in the US and I'm in Europe, we're trying to figure out if we can fix it, before mailing it back etc.
As it's used, no warranty. But I did contact Pilot nonetheless and am waiting for their reply.

Sounds good. For ink to get past greased threads means that there is a large gap or hole somewhere. Especially in just a few minutes.

I agree with TSherbs: Return it to the seller for a full refund.
