Hello from Iowa, USA

Hello all,
I have been hit hard by the fountain pen bug, thirty or so years after I used them in college. I was in the Navy immediately after college, not a fountain pen friendly environment, at the time at least. But after being encouraged by friends, I got a Pilot Metro, a perfect fit for my hand, and am back to using fountain pens consistently. I'd forgotten just how pleasant the writing experience is with a good fountain pen. Also, it's great to see how much more is available now thanks to internet forums and commerce.

Welcome aboard! A Metropolitan was my "gateway pen". I still love using it even after collecting a bunch of other pens.

If you are in in the Des Moines area or Cedar Rapids area we have chapters in those areas that meet monthly. Join us! We are looking to start chapters in other areas, such as down near Fort Madison IA, home of the famous Sheaffer Pen Co, too.

Eastern Iowa chapter meets 1st Sunday of the month

Central Iowa chapter meets 2nd Sunday of the month (Today in fact, 4/14/2019, from 4-6pm at Café Diem across from the DMACC campus)

We also coordinate with Midlands Pen Collectors in Omaha NE, for Iowans on the west side of the state; MPC has a Google Groups mailing list and page and a Facebook page, and meet around the first Sunday of the month.
