Default Vintage Sheaffer Issue I Think

I've had a vintage Sheaffer (Marine Green with signature band) for a while and now, when I try to fill it with the lever, it doesn't seem to take on any ink. I'm not much of one to "look under the hood" with vintage pens (which is why I have so few) and am not sure what is wrong with it ??sac problem?? or to whom I must go to repair it as I'd like to re-sell it once it's worthy.

    Suggestions please?

Sounds like it is a lever fill model.
If you aren't up to replacing the ink sac yourself, Pendragons (chillipea on ebay) will also replace sacs in UK.

I have had excellent work done by Danny Fudge, with some pens that were too nice to risk my own work. I do not think that you can go wrong.

I appreciate all the recommendations of Danny Fudge. I have a Conway Stewart lever filler that, well, doesn't fill, and I suspect the sac is the problem. This is a CS by British Bespoke (Flag nib, etc.) and I shudder to think of the expense, time and other aggravation involved in shipping the pen back to England. Mr. Fudge would seem to be an excellent alternative.

He's usually at the Dallas Pen Show if you go to that one. I think he was at St. Louis last year, and he goes to the Arkansas Show, too.

If you're into vintage pens and have more than one or two lever fillers, the best suggestion is to learn to do the sac replacement yourself. A basic lever filler usually is a straightforward job and it saves money in the long run to do the simpler ones yourself. I can see sending it off it it is your only sac/lever filler.

Thank you for all the advice. I've contacted Mr. Fudge for this repair. As it's now the only vintage pen I own, I'm sure I'm not the one to repair it.

Jar - Last time I checked with Dromgoole's on repairs (it has been a couple of years) the only service offered was nib adjustment/tweaking. They recently upgraded their website, and it's a major improvement over the old site, but no mention of any repairs. I guess it's worth a telephone call, however.

Mr. Fudge sent the repaired pen back to me quickly. It was a smooth, affordable transaction.

    Thanks for the input!
