Removing a barrel personalisation help and advice needed

Have read this post with interest.

Personally I still can not understand why anyone would wish to remove any personalisation on a pen.

You remove what it actually is.

About 5 months ago, as a test of my skill I removed a name from the pen shown.

There only two methods for a perfect finish.

Farmboy half mentioned one.

Good luck using any chemicals - you will destroy the molecular structure.

Have added a photograph of restored 1mm heat pressed gold lettered name.
You will not see anything unless you use a micrometer and 20 magnification.

If you are an expert at this - have a good look at the straight reflection lines - that is the ultimate test of finish.
