The rare and coveted Montblanc Compressor - demystified! Well to some extent at least The compressor had a pneumatic filling system that was made for a short time in the 1920s as an alternative to the lever-filler and other more common filling systems. But it wasn’t popular and was soon discontinued. Today, the Compressors are amongst the most desirable pens for vintage MB collectors. Yet, little is known about them because of the scarcity of official documentation. I had questions and so I started piecing together information from books and then reached out to the most renowned experts in the world to fill in the gaps. I hope the resulting article provides a little more clarity on these beautiful pens.

That is surreal to see a MB of that era in that material--I always love when people share vintage prototypes like this; it gives you a sense for the decisions companies made. (Sometimes to return to, as Pelikan did with the white/tortoise)

This year, I promised to do more interviews with vintage MB collectors. So, here's one with Christian Ott, to set the ball rolling! Christian has one of the most exceptional collections of vintage Pelikans, and some remarkable Osmia and Sonnecken pens too. Of course, he collects vintage Montblanc pens as well, and these are the focus of the interview. Show and Tell at the link here https://www.vintagemontblancpens.com...-ott-interview

Check out this beautiful MB No. 6 safety filler from c. 1919. It's black, nothing flashy. But, these designs were so elegant! This particular pen is special because it has the horizontal/cross knurling on its cap top and barrel, which means it was one of the earliest versions of the popular safety. Check it out - https://www.vintagemontblancpens.com/no-6-safety

I am delighted to share with you one of my most recent acquisitions - a 110 yr old. No. 2 white dome (no star) Montblanc. It's probably one of the first "Montblanc" branded pens made by then Simplo Pen Co. You can read more about its history here -*https://www.vintagemontblancpens.com...o-2-white-dome
Nothing fancy. Classic, understated, and unpretentious (as my friend KC says).*
    Enjoy!
P.S. Look forward to some pretty spectacular MB articles over the coming*weeks, and yet another collector interview.*

I am fascinated with the Spanish-made Montblanc pens from the 1940-50s, with their vibrant “chevron” colours and classic designs! Check out some truly stunning examples and read more about their history, in the latest article on our website -*https://www.vintagemontblancpens.com...hevron-designs
Many of the pens pictured belong to Jesùs Guillén - the author of “Montblanc Pens Made in Spain”. He has also very kindly helped me write the article. Enjoy!

Thank you, Sia. As you are aware, pens made of this celluloid are a particular interest of mine, Montblanc being only one example.

    Hello,

It has been a while! I hope this email finds you and your loved ones well. Also, happy New Year!

I am happy to share with you an updated version of our old Rotkäppchen Safety Pen article. I received images of a second example recently from a generous collector, prompting me to undertake a little more research on this mysterious brand by Montblanc. Check out the link here - https://www.vintagemontblancpens.com...4ppchen-safety

If there is anything I might have missed or got wrong, please do let me know. I am no expert. I am just trying to triangulate information from as many sources as possible to paint a somewhat coherent picture about the history of these pens. So please don't hesitate to provide me with feedback.

Also, if you have any pre-1959 Montblanc pens that you would be willing to share images of, please let me know. I am happy to feature them on the website, do research on their history, etc. The site is meant to be a free of cost and continuously updated repository of knowledge about the history of MBs made pre-1959. The information is for the benefit of vintage MB enthusiasts like us, and images of rare pens are a very essential source of knowledge.

I recently acquired a pen that had eluded me for a few years - the glass nib M.G. 420. Montblanc's Glasfeder series, made circa 1936, is a modest one but quite rare to find today. So, I thought this was the perfect time to update my old article on this model. As always, I am able to share images and information about these pens thanks to very generous collectors and experts.
