    Default Shark Attack in Ohio

Ohio may be 600 miles from the nearest ocean, but it seems to be infested with sharks. Or at least with Dorsal Fins.

It is hard enough to find one Nakaya Dorsal Fin any more. I’m not quite sure how I ended up with nine Dorsal Fin I’s, with two Dorsal Fin II’s currently on the way. Guess I didn’t realize these things swam in schools!

Left to right are three in Aka Tamenuri, two in Heki Tamenuri, Kuro Tamenuri, Shiro Tamenuri, Ao Tamenuri, and Aka Tamenuri Ishime Kanshitsu.

    Cue the shark music!

Gorgeous. Particularly the Heki Tamenuri. What nibs have you got on the business end of those beauties?

Magnificent. One tuba is not enough. This will require a frenzy of tubas!

And the ao is simply spectacular.

There are a range of nibs running from Fine through Broad Architect up to BB Stub

One Heki is a Fine and the other is a Broad

Beautiful collection, indeed. I very much like Ao Tamenuri (not often seen)

    Thank you for sharing.

Do they all have different nibs?

Clicked through naively expecting this to be about Jinhaos...

Killer lineup. The II in Kuro Tamenuri is one of my grails, especially now they no longer list them.
    Vintage. Cursive italic. Iron gall.

Ao Tamenuri is out of production and Nakaya has said they will not make any more. Thus, they are tough to come by. Mine are in the pictures below. At one time I also had a Decapod Twist, which I foolishly sold. I'd love to get it back!

Trying to find one of these myself. Which finish do you prefer and which nib do you like? How'd you find them all?

You're going to need a bigger boat...

I'm almost embarrassed to say there are more now than when I posted the picture almost a year ago. I like all the finishes but am especially fond of the Ishime. In Tamenuris I like Aka and Midori, plus the Ao of course. My favorite nib treatment is an Architect grind.

My very favorite Nakaya in my collection is a Bamboo Woods, which you can see here:
