Great thread all! Keep them coming!
I think this set was a gift / award from the Carroon and Reynolds Insurance Co. Here is a little tidbit to go along with your set.

Thanks, it was a flea market find, corroded with dirt like it had been buried for a hundred years. It took me forever to chip all the dirt off of it, don’t know anything about it, how old it is…brass, I think. I’m including a pic of another statue that you might appreciate, probably one of my favorite things that I own. It may have been a garden statue at some point.

As far as I understand the inscription on the metal plate, got H. Ernest Feer this desk set as present from his associates at Corroon & Reynolds.

Probably, H. Ernest Feer was an insurance agent, working for Corroon & Reynolds. His roots seems to be Swiss since Feer (also written Fehr) is a Swiss name.
This NYT article confirms that he came from Zurich, Switzerland:

Somehow, perhaps through his heirs, the set made its way back to Zurich, Switzerland, where I found it. Funny thing!

[QUOTE=christof;329342]Apparently, Erneste was always late for staff meetings and appointments, which shifted the work burden onto his associates to take up the slack. They decided to put a clock front and center on Erneste's desk through this gift. Alas, Erneste had always preferred pencils and never looked at the desk pen base and clock, so he continued his tardiness until his return to Switzerland.
You have a great pen and clock set, Christof!

Thank you Fred.

Yes, the kids are using blue ink. But I have another 1 litre bottle of Pelikan 4001 Brillant-Black.
Just another pen pic.
...well, technically it could be done better. I will try again later.
