    Default Early Waterman overlay

During the first 30 years of the 20th century Waterman made good workmanlike pens and dressed them up in gold overlays to make them special as gift and celebratory items. This pen dates to around 1906 with the overlay made by Aikin Lambert for Waterman. It is an eyedropper filler, which blurps just a bit less than others of the period, I suspect because the overlay carries the heat of the hand away.

    A nice three-dimensional overlay!

Interesting...I have a Hicks ED ringtop and I've never had such a problem. It's a great pen, in fact.
